Re: [analog-help] help

2001-11-27 Thread James Herrmann

Hello,

This type of reporting is not supported. The accuracy
of pin pointing visitors at the city level is highly
suspect. According to an unnamed commercial product
I've used, 45% of my traffic comes from Virginia, USA
(AOL, of course). Obviously this is a flawed system
that Analog wisely omits.

It does do streaming logs pretty good I may add.

One thing I was wondering could I just pull certain info from the logs?

I want to pull just information that is pulled from /directory/* and
make this into one report. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hi Aengus,

Cheers for this. As luck would have it I have just found the calamaris website - but
thanks for your prompt response!

There's a searchable web archive of the list at

The basic problem is that Squid logs don't use HTTP status codes, so
Analog can't readily evaluate entries. And proxy server logs include
information that Analog isn't designed to extract. (Analog doesn't have
any concept of a hit ration, for example). There are tools specifically
designed for analyzing squid logs, such as calamari.

[analog-help] Squid log files

2001-11-27 Thread Ben Daniel

Hi folks,

Appologies if this is a common topic, I am fairly new to the whole arena (as far as
that is any sort of excuse...).

Has anybody used analog to analyse squid access log files. I can't seem to find the
right format for analog to check.

Any help or tips would be greatfully received.

Thanks,

Ben Daniel
