[analog-help] Search Word+Query

2000-09-26 Thread Ben Blackmore

Hi,
I'm having a problem! For some reason search query & search word are not
showing up in the report! I know I've had it before. I have set the
SEARCHQUERY & SEARCHWORD to ON in the .cfg file, and I know that search
words/querys must exist because there are refering sites from Altavista
and other search engins! Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance

[analog-help] Off topic but help needed

2000-10-11 Thread Ben Blackmore

Hi guys,
little off topic here (well very) and I'm sorry, it should be easy to
solve though, i know how clever you guys are! :)
You remember a few weeks back, some guy had his auto reply setup to
reply to every email he recieved, well what software does that? The
software we use (Turnpike) has no auto-reply option. We need to set up a
stand alone PC that auto replys to any email it recieves (don't worry it
won't be recieving mails from lists like this! :)
So if someone can let me know of a simple software package that will
dial up every 10-15mins and auto reply to emails with a pre-set message
I'd be greatful.
Once again sorry about this being off topic.
Thanks in advance

2000-10-16 Thread Ben Blackmore

Hi Mariella,
Would you believe that Analog is so good no only does it let you see a
list of pages access, (just set REQUEST to ON in the analog config) it
will also tell u the directories, and gives a report of the file types
accessed, just set the following in the Analog.cfg!
DIRECTORY ON
FILETYPE ON

[analog-help] Dodgy Dates

2001-03-22 Thread Ben Blackmore

Anyone else get some dodgy dates off the list? I got 1 from
[EMAIL PROTECTED] dated 27/11/01 and 2 from TERMIS dated 03/01/02
is this a list problem, or a problem with the dates on users PCs?

Many Thanks

[analog-help] unresolved numerical address

2000-08-25 Thread Ben Blackmore

Hi,
I have just set up analog on my system (i think its great by the way)
and used it to set up reports on several log files, however, every
report so far says [unresolved numerical address] for domain report, and
organisation report, it also says [not listed: 234 hosts] for the host
report! Is there a way to get the report display the ip address for the
domain and organisation reports, and the same for the hosts reports. At
the moment I'm not that bothered about having the ip address resolved to
a host name, just having the report display anything would be useful.

[analog-help] Resolving Host Names

2000-08-29 Thread Ben Blackmore

Hi,
I know I asked this question last week, but I'm still having trouble
resolving ip address. I use QDNS which lets you run an analog config
file to get its information. so I type in the command prompt, QDNS /g
analog.cfg QDNS then runs and out puts the dnsfile.txt, however when you
open this file up, it doesn't resolve the ip address to names, it just
leaves them as numbers! You CAN do this by by typing QDNS /a
but you would have to do this for every address in the logs, which is
virually impossible when you have a site getting large numbers of hits.
Is there not a way to resolve large amounts of ip addresses, either
using analog or an analog tool like qdns?
Thanks in advance

I've looked around, but I can't find an older version of QDNS! Does
anyone have a version that does require a DNS server, or if not, does
anyone know of a DNS server I can use?

Its ok thanks for the offer, I managed to get it finally working, by
putting in my DNS, trouble is out of 200 IPs I managed to resolve about
10 and 3 of these were me looking at the page! I used 3 DNS serves and
had the same result with all 3. Anyone know how to get better results?

[analog-help] Decompiling analog

2000-08-31 Thread Ben Blackmore

I have had some experiance with compiling and decompiling programs and I
have read the Licence.txt on analog, and it says you are allowed to re-
compile it. I don't want to change it that much, its just I want to use
the reports not so much as web pages but as print offs to include in a
more detailed report. And I would like to remove the (Go To: General
Summary.) links Section from the report because it would have no
use on a print out, and I think it would look better. Would this be easy
to do? I was hoping there was a variable to configure in the config file
to remove it but there wasn't. Has anyone else done this? Did you have
much success?

Me (again) just a quick question to finish with (i hope) what source
file is it that deals with the look of the finished report? I need to

Your right, it would be much easier. Didn't see that line in the config

[analog-help] Muliple Config Files

2000-09-07 Thread Ben Blackmore

Hi,
I use Analog to analyse the log files of our customers, of which we have
many. I used to have to keep changing the config file for each user, I
then decided to keep a separate directory for each customer, each with
its own version of analog in, which was configured to that specific
customer. I was wondering it would be possible to run a bat file, which
will fun run all the versions of analog with a single click. This would
be easy and simple, BUT I also want to run QDNS with it. So far the bat
file looks like this:

@customer1\analog
@customer2\analog
@customer3\analog

I need to put something like this at the top: -

@qdns /g analog.cfg /y 158.152.1.58

but I'm not sure if it should be that or: -

@qdns /g customer1\analog.cfg /y 158.152.1.58
@qdns /g customer2\analog.cfg /y 158.152.1.58
@qdns /g customer3\analog.cfg /y 158.152.1.58

Or would it be easier to have just different .cfg files in the root, say
customer1.cfg
customer2.cfg
customer3.cfg

And then have the bat file run them all with something like.

@qdns /g customer1.cfg, customer2.cfg, customer3.cfg /y 158.152.1.58

I'm not sure if that will work, can you run mulitple files, with a ','
or does it have to be a ';'?

Can someone please advise me
Thanks in advance
Ben

P.S. sorry if its rather a long e-mail and sorry if it doesn't make much
sence and rambles on a bit.

Aengus,
Thanks for the help. The only trouble with missing out the "/g
config.cfg" is if you have muliple log files to analyse. Or is the a way
of doing "/l access1.log, access2.log, access3.log" Thats why I use "/g
config.cfg" because qdns sees what log files to use.

You have to remeber that some e-mail packages (like AOL *cough* crap
*cough*) can't understand HTML in e-mail, therefore it simply cuts it
out, never mind there might acually be some important infomation contain
there in. So she might not get the Unsubscribe information.
