Itay - thankyou for your efforts, but
it's still not working. I just get 0 successful requests are recorded.

I ought to explain that I'm copying
the log files to my ordinary Windows PC and executing Analog from there, not on
the server (it's a commercial server and they don't use Analog).

Do you have any more suggestions?

Normal apache
log format is : %h %l %u %t
\%r\ %s %b \%{Referer}i\
\%{User-Agent}i\ itay

In your
analog config file (which is installed on the hosting server) you should write:

APACHELOGFORMAT
(%h %l %u %t %v \%r\ %s %b \%{Referer}i\
\%{User-Agent}i\)

# Points
to the log file of the apache

LOGFILE
d:\Apache_tomcat\Apache\logs\access.log

This
solution works for me (I am running Apache 1.3.23 on win32 machine)

I also
have the configuration for Resin web server if anyone encountered a problem.

Please
let me know if it works, if not please send me your httpd.conf file (of the
apace) and the analog.cfg file and I will look at them.

Best of
luck

Itay

I'm

My

I
have included a small sample of some log entries in case anyone can see where

able to point to which of the Analog configuration settings I need to modify.

Thanks,

That' very odd! I do have two different sites hosted on different

If I delete that quoted dash the analysis seems to work. But what can I
do to the LOGFORMAT command parameters to make it work without deleting
the -?

Thanks,

Just define an additional parameter in the LOGFORMAT for the last item (often

LOGFORMAT (%S %j %u [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j] %j%w%r%wHTTP%j %c %b %f %B %j)

LOGFORMAT (%S %j %u [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j] %r %c %b %f %B)

If you want to process the last entry instead of ignoring it, use

LOGFORMAT (%S %j %j [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j] %j%w%r%wHTTP%j %c %b %f %B %u)
LOGFORMAT (%S %j %j [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j] %j%w%r%wHTTP%j %c %b %f %B)

LOGFORMAT (%S %j %j [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j] %r %c %b %f %B)

and turn on USER reporting -- the cookie will be treated as the userid, which
is often what you want (and which is actually a recommended option in the
analog documentation :-))

I'm
afraid I can't get Analog to process any of my log stat files. Each log entry
is described as an error.

My

I
have included a small sample of some log entries in case anyone can see where
these stats differ from the included Analog samples. Hopefully someone will be
able to point to which of the Analog configuration settings I need to modify.

Thanks,

RE: [analog-help] Falling at the first hurdle

Ian

Normal apache log format is : %h %l %u %t \%r\
%s %b \%{Referer}i\
\%{User-Agent}i\ itay

In your analog config file (which is installed on the hosting server) you
should write:

APACHELOGFORMAT (%h %l %u
%t %v \%r\ %s %b \%{Referer}i\ \%{User-Agent}i\)

# Points to the log file
of the apache

LOGFILE d:\Apache_tomcat\Apache\logs\access.log

This solution works for
me (I am running Apache 1.3.23 on win32 machine)

I also have the
configuration for Resin web server if anyone encountered a problem.

Please let me know if it
works, if not please send me your httpd.conf file (of
the apace) and the analog.cfg file and I will look at
them.

Best of luck

Itay

If you turn DEBUG ON, analog will show these lines at the start of it's

NCSA Combined format is
 (%S %j %u [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j] %j%w%r%wHTTP%j %c %b %f %B)
But you'll notice that Analog puts a * under the www.dp-now.com field,
just after the %b, because it's expecting %f, (the referrer field, which
is quoted, and www.dp-now is not quoted). I'd guess that www.dp-now.com is
the Virtual Host, %v, so I'd try:

LOGFORMAT (%S %j %u [%d/%M/%Y:%h:%n:%j] %j%w%r%wHTTP%j %c %b %v %f

(all on one line).

Do you have any more
