[android-beginners] Eclipse "New Android Project" dialog
I am building Android apps on a laptop running Ubuntu 10.04 using Eclipse and the "New Android Project" is so long that the "Build Target" listbox is scrunched up so that you can't read the available entries. There is enough blank space between the "Min SDK Version:" textbox and the button row that some could be removed and then at least one line of a "Build Target" would show. I don't know where to post this request. Do you? Thanks. Eclipse Java EE IDE for Web Developers. [android-beginners] Google Maps Installation error
I have an "Android Dev Phone 1" Firmware version 1.6 and for the last month or so it has been trying to update Google Maps but it keeps getting "Installation error Package file was not signed correctly". I have done a search on the Internet and a number of people have successfully completed this update and a number of others have received this same error message. But I have not been able to find a solution to the "not signed correctly" problem. Does anyone here know how to get Google Maps to update correctly? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Beginners" group. NEW! Re: [android-beginners] Android SDK and AVD Manager Failed to fetch URL:HTTPS SSL error
I made three changes that seem to fix these problems for me. I am not sure the first step is necessary. Also, I forgot to mention that this is all on a 64-bit machine running 64-bit versions of the software. 1. I added the last line to ~/.android/androidtool.cfg $ cat ~/.android/androidtool.cfg ### Settings for Android Tool #Thu Nov 19 10:52:14 PST 2009 sdkman.show.update.only=false sdkman.force.http=true 2. I added the last line to ~/.bashrc Reference: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=290395 , https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=598734 $ cat ~/.bashrc # ~/.bashrc: executed by bash(1) for non-login shells. # see /usr/share/doc/bash/examples/startup-files (in the package bash-doc) # for examples ... # Go compiler environment variables: export GOROOT=$HOME/go export GOOS=linux export GOARCH=amd64 export GOBIN=$HOME/bin export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true 3. After I did an update in "android" I had to make the android script executable again. I don't know why it was changed. $ chmod +x android-sdk-linux/tools/android On Thursday 19 November 2009 11:17:01 Kent Loobey wrote: > I am running Ubuntu 9.10 with eclipse installed from the Ubuntu repository. > > If I try to create an Android project in eclipse. > > File->New->Project...->Android->Android Project->Next > > I get blocked in the "New Android Project" dialog because it does not > include any "Build Target"s. > > If I run "Android SDK and AVD Manager" I get: > > > $ android > Available Packages->Refresh > > Refresh Sources > Fetching Https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml > > Failed to fetch URL > https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml, > reason: HTTPS SSL error. > You might want to force download through HTTP in the settings. > > > What manifests an SSL error? [android-beginners] Android SDK and AVD Manager Failed to fetch URL:HTTPS SSL error
I am running Ubuntu 9.10 with eclipse installed from the Ubuntu repository. If I try to create an Android project in eclipse. File->New->Project...->Android->Android Project->Next I get blocked in the "New Android Project" dialog because it does not include any "Build Target"s. If I run "Android SDK and AVD Manager" I get: $ android Available Packages->Refresh Refresh Sources Fetching Https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml Failed to fetch URL https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/repository/repository.xml, reason: HTTPS SSL error. You might want to force download through HTTP in the settings. What manifests an SSL error? What do I need to change in my system to allow this fetch to go through? If I go to the "Settings" tab under "Misc" I can check "Force https://... sources to be fetched using http://..."; but even though I click "Save & Apply" it doesn't change the "Available Packages->Refresh" outcome. To get this to work do I need to supply a "Proxy Settings"? If so what would I put there?
