If you add the line android:singleLine=True to you XML declaration. If you do that, the soft keyboard will show a Done button. If you don't want to do that, you can exit the keyboard using the backbutton key. Thanks. How does the emulator mirror the actions of a real life device? Would this not be an issue in this instance? My comments were based on device behavior (ADP1 and Google ION).
