[android-developers] Monitoring android app while they are running

2015-12-04 Thread Tota S

Hi everyone,

This year is my first time I will use the android operating system. I face
some problems and searched for the solutions in google and the other
android communities, but still not find the exact solutions. So, I hope I
can find the solution from this group.

I'm trying to find a way which can let me understand what are the
applications do on my android mobile for example, you know each application
will request for a list of permissions when it's installed on the device.
But, if I use twitter app and I gave it an access to my picture, wifi,
camera, bluetooth, contact, microphone and GPS how can I check if twitter is
using my Location , or the user shared a photo from his gallery in
twitter?.

I mean maybe I gave the app a permission, but in fact the app never uses
that permission. I hope my question is clear. The idea is I want to monitor
the application while they are running to check specific permissions if it
used or not.

I thought about using logcat (i don't know if really the logcat will show
me exactly what the other apps are doing?) and some people said I need to
root my device and other said for a photo may I can use file observer. Is
there a single technique I can use to check all the resources I mentioned
before ,or for each resource I should follow a different step to check if
the application use it in fact or not.

note: (twitter is an example, I need to check different kind of apps in my
device)

Thank you

Re: [android-developers] Select multiple images - web

2015-12-04 Thread dlchase89
It seems like the solutions relate to android OS code rather than web
client (javascript) code. I am not an android developer and not interested
in writing an android OS app but rather just interfacing with the web
platform/browser. Does this make a difference in finding a solution?

Re: [android-developers] How to send reference object to a fragment in android studio

2015-12-04 Thread Mark Phillips
As an alternative, why not store the ArrayList in the Application
object, and have getArrayList and setArrayList methods.
The Fragment can access the ArrayList and update
ArrayList with these methods. Since the Application object is a
singelton, there will only be one valid copy of ArrayList.

like to be able to do the same when using an android device and android (or
Chrome, etc.) browser. Is this possible and can someone point me to more

[android-developers] Google Play shows score activity whenever I call submitscore, how do I prevent this?

2015-12-04 Thread Özden Irmak
Hello There,

Simply, I submit a score to my game's Google Play leaderboard (with "Games.
Leaderboards.submitScore") at every level end. My game has bit sized levels
so you can complete them very quickly and whenever I submit the score, a
full screen Google Play activity shows up in the screen which breaks the
fluidity/fast pace of my game and also drives me nuts personally :). I
couldn't see any way to prevent this and also didn't see such a behavior in
any other leaderboard providers before (GameCenter, Swarm, etc.).

Could somebody tell me if I'm missing anything in here or this is by design
and I can't do anything about it?

Thanks,

Özden

Re: [android-developers] need code for android app

2015-12-04 Thread Richard Thompson
You won't find a code sample for this specific application as it's so
specific. I'd have a look at
https://github.com/googlesamples?utf8=%E2%9C%93&query=android for samples
of the different elements you may need.

Try to print your data using LOG function and try to narrow down problem.
If your LOG does not print anything it means you are not getting any data
likewise do this to check functionality that you have implemented and
figure out where is problem in the code! happy coding !

You generally *do* want the exact same data object if the object is large
and would take significant time and memory to serialize and deserialize in
a fully duplicated form. This is especially OK if your source object is
immutable and therefore threadsafe and immune to tampering for read
operations.

Also, if serialization is not a well-performing option, sending the
fragment an indicator on how to find the collection would be fine.
Sometimes people use an event bus to publish stored data object to
dependents. Sometimes receiving from a singleton is good enough as long as
it's not adding too much weight to the app. Sometimes querying a content
provider (backed by sqlite database) for very large collections is
appropriate.
