[android-developers] Having trouble with onRequestPermissionResult

2016-06-03 Thread Anugerah Rompis
Hello. I'm doing an exercise with Google Location Service and I'm having
trouble.

I'm writing an app which dumps user's coordinates on a TextView. The
problem is, on Marshmallow, after the user tapped Allow on the permission
dialog, the TextView does not get updated until the app is restarted.

Where did I go wrong?

The code: https://gist.github.com/starleaf1/10ffec3cf9f79538583d5b6dd28f3d0a
My question on StackOverflow:

Looks like you're using C# which is going to limit the help you can get on
this forum.
Generally speaking, you need to use whatever tool you're using to profile
your application and determine where the bottleneck(s) is/are. Then
optimize whatever is taking the longest, rinse, and repeat.

[android-developers] Price Comparison app - HELP

2016-06-03 Thread Felipe Passos
Hello guys, I'm from Brazil. I'm in the process of creatig an android app
that compares prices of games (Xbox One and PS4) in various websites. In my
research I found some API's that could compare in some websites but none of
them really satisfied me. And during my research I also found that Google
Shopping is the most efficient in comparing prices, at least in my contry.
Then I searched for an API for Google Shopping, and unfortunatunately I
discovered that google deprecated that API about 3 years ago, I believe. So
if you guys could help me, is there any API for Google Shopping that let my
app search and retrieve products and it's stores and respective prices? It
would really help me. I understand that there must exist dozens of others
API's for such purpose, but those API's normally don't use to work in every
country, and here the best I found was Google Shopping, so if you guys
could help me please.

[android-developers] Android Device Admin App

2016-06-03 Thread vipin singhal
I am trying to create an android device admin app. My requirements are that
the user should not be able to turn off the mobile network data and the GPS
settings.
So far, using the android documentation and some resources, I have been
able to create an app that will allow me to put restrictions on camera,
implement passcode policies and some more stuff.

But I haven't been able to restrict the user from changing the GPS and
mobile data settings. I read on various links that this thing was possible
using the Android NetworkConnectionManager class but that method doesn't
work in newer versions of android.

Can someone guide me on how to achieve this ?

Thanks !

Re: [android-developers] Download Manager: Pause & Resume

2016-06-03 Thread himanshu
Actually its not a public API of DownloadManager.

DownloadProvider documentation

 (
and platform code
)

clearly indicates that COLUMN_CONTROL is for pausing and resuming from
Apps.

And on setting COLUMN_CONTROL to CONTROL_PAUSED (1) leads to pausing (
initially that column is null when I read it before setting it to
CONTROL_PAUSED) .
And after that, I see that after sometime COLUMN_STATUS is set to
STATUS_PAUSED_BY_APP

Also COLUMN_CURRENT_BYTES stops updating, so that indicates that pausing
works.

Next when I want to resume, I set COLUMN_CONTROL to CONTROL_RUN. But it
stays in that state, without getting resumed.

I am new to this, so I do not know how to create it programmatically.
I read about it, but there is no proper documentation about.

1. 9 patch chunk - What is it?
2. Cap inset - What is it?
3. How to get the 1 px stretchable area patch and padding?
4. How to create 9 patch from an existing 9 patch png?

Please show me some light on this.

[android-developers] Best suggest to android system GOOGLE for ever from me

2016-06-03 Thread Gokul Chand
Google major drawback is lack of true multitasking features i.e.

Android app automatically stop by android syatem in background,

Which is good and also worst part, ((but in windows best thing is minimised
app never killed automatically))

Plz add some features to not auto kill app user when want or pin some
application that android syatem can't kill that app

The best request to Android system
