[android-developers] Java based Android app that can tunnel traffic from phone to a specific host?

I would like to write an Android app that can tunnel all traffic from the 
phone to a specific host (and that host can strip off the tunnel and send 
traffic, eventually, to the actual destination host). 


I see a lot of forums answers that show how to do this via manual VPN 
client settings on the phone, but I would like to write my own app.

Any pointers to specific API or tools someone can provide will be greatly 
appreciated.

[android-developers] Get YouTube App error

I’m trying to develop a video player app in android studio to play YouTube 
videos and I’m getting this error.

Get YouTube App

This app won’t run without the YouTube App, which is missing from your 
device.

I’ve tried to install the “YouTubeAndroidPlayerApi-1.2.2” a couple of ways 
but it still gives me the same error.

Any ideas?

You have probably come across this 1000 times and still haven't figured 
out the simplest way to do it. We are gonna fix this soon.
   
   *Code*
This topic will be based on an open source code on git hub.
I will update the link soon. 

*App structure*
*   - *the app is using firebase real time database - for storing user 
data, like text, audio and images
   - it also hosts a web view to view several websites

   *internet usage - *basically the estimation is 2 mega bytes data usage 
at maximum to make an upload request and a get request from the firebase 
database.

   The app consumes about 5 times of that 

  *Ram - *layout is properly setup and it has very few threads on the main 
thread, the ram is not much consumed

  *Storage - *after installation, having the app is 3 mb in size, the size 
multiplies to around 10 mb. After launching the first time, caches are 
saved. These caches are limited to 10 MB so  the app will 
not go above 20 mb


*DEVELOPMENT:*
 the main aim of this topic is to develop an app using the firebase 
realtime database minimizing the resources used in a phone.

[android-developers] Nexus 6 - Neither updates received under Android beta program nor reverted to official Rom after unenrolling

Hi Guys,

Need help in updating back to Official Rom.

Its regarding my Nexus 6 device, registered under Android Beta program and 
has updated to 7.0 Nougat.
Since the day i updated to beta version, Nov 5th, I havent received any 
updates.
Unsatisfied with this, Unenrolled the device from the beta program on 3rd 
week of december, yet i didnt receive update for official version.

Could some one respond if there`s a solution other than manually flashing 
the ROMs.

[android-developers] MissingMethodException in android

I'm trying to work with pdfbox and groovy together. I wrote a code that 
takes some information in a format of string and creates a pdf document 
with that info.

I want to integrate this code to an android app I'm creating.


I ran the code in intellij IDEA and it works very well, but when I try to 
run the code in Android Studio, I get a MissingPropertyException in some 
part of the code which works perfectly not on Android Studio.


The code in this part use a method called getWidth() from the PDRectangle 
class. I know for sure that there is a method like this in this specific 
class. So why do I still keep getting this MissingMethodExceptions?

Here is the activity's code which I run the groovy code in:

[android-developers] SBT plugin for Android Studio 2.2.3

I am trying to begin Android development using Scala and Scaloid. For this, 
I would like to use an SBT plugin for the build system. However, there is 
no plugin listed under the plugin repositories in Android Studio. According 
to this

the SBT plugin 1.8.0 is not compatible with Studio 1.5.1, but I can't 
imagine that even now in 2.2.3 there is no SBT plugin available. I also 
looked at the git hub repository for sbt-android by scala-android 
, but I had trouble with the 
installation procedure given under "Usage"  in the README (~/.sbt/0.13/plugins/ 
and ~/.android/sbt/sdk did not exist on my system, despite having installed 
both android-sdk and sbt via apt-get).

So how do I use SBT as a build tool in Android Studio 2.2.3?
