 Any piece of advice or solution will of great help to me . I have searched

[android-developers] Fwd: Sharing all cookies from apps to server in android for single sign on

Subject: Sharing all cookies from apps to server in android for single sign
on
To: android-platf...@googlegroups.com
Cc: android-developers@googlegroups.com

 I have some set of apps on the device.
Few of them have webviews .

1) If app 1 make some service call or search something in the webview and
get some cookies in the response,I need to persist these cookies.
2)If app 2 make some service call or search something in the webview ,I
need to attach cookies persisted in the point 1 in the request from app2.

The main intention is to achieve kind of single sign among the apps by
transferring all cookies to the server.

Is there any good approach using android APIS to achieve above requirement.

[android-developers] Application behavior is different on 4.2 android platform device

2013-04-02 Thread Bunty syed
Hi All,

Hope doing well.

Actually I have one application which is behaving different on android 4.2
platform device.

In my application, there are three activities.

From first activity *(Launcher activity*), i navigate to second activity
and then from second activity,I navigate to third activity.

In third activity, I have a button on clicking tat , I am launching
following intent ..

Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MAIN);

PackageManager manager =
context.getPackageManager();

i =
manager.getLaunchIntentForPackage(com.myapp);

i.addCategory(Intent.CATEGORY_LAUNCHER);

i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK |
Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_CLEAR_TOP);

 i.putExtra(EXITAPP,  true);

startActivity(i);

Above intent launches the *first activity* by clearing the all top
activities. In the first activity onCreate method, i check for the *EXITAPP
*flag in the intent do System.exit(0) if it is present.
This way it *kills *my app completely after cliking button.
Above logic works fine for all devices upto *4.1 android platform.*

But in 4.2 android platform device, on doing System.exit(0) in the first
activity onCreate *kill *the the current process *restarts *the
application..

Is it the behavioral change in the android 4.2 platform or I need to do
something different to achieve above case for 4.2

[android-developers] bundle passed via intent coming null

2012-11-06 Thread Bunty syed
Hi All,

Hope doing well.

I have one app with one button.

On click of button, I am trying to launch second app by passing
some bundle.

My second app is having two activities. I launched the second app
from phone then navigated to second activity.

Then I went to first app cliked the button to launch the second
app by passing some bundle as below .

//my code

Intent intent = new Intent(android.intent.action.MAIN);

intent.addCategory(android.intent.category.LAUNCHER);

intent.setComponent(new ComponentName(com.secondapp,
secondapplauncheractivity));

intent.putExtra(bundlekey, bundlevalue);

 intent.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK);

Above code resumed the second app but I am not getting any bundle
in the intent of the second app.

I overidden lifecycle methods in the second app to check for this
bundle by calling below code --

//my code

Intent i =  this.getIntent();

 if(i != null ){

Bundle b = i.getExtras();

if(b!= null  b.containsKey(bundlekey)){

Log.i(TAG, found bundle===);

 }

  }

I tested the above scenario in google nexus 4.1.2 android version

 But is there any way to customize that Alert message instead I want to

[android-developers] How to block Sharing data via share intent

2012-07-16 Thread Bunty syed
Hi,

In android, on long clicking some link or text, System generates a menu
with some share via option.
On clicking that, it pops up a screen with facebook gmail,etc..

My doubt is that is there any way to remove that option from that menu.

or is there any callback call when some intent is launched from the
application..

Re: [android-developers] How to block Sharing data via share intent

2012-07-16 Thread Bunty syed
Thanks Kris.

I will tell the scenario I am working on.

Actually my app is driven by server defined policy.

The application fetches the policy from the server then act accordingly.
There is one policy for data sharing.
If data sharing is allowed then no problem.But if the data sharing is not
allowed, application should be able to block the data sharing options like
sharing Via item in the system generated context menu.

 Is that a question? If so, the answer is yes, if you don't specify an

 inspect it.

 As I said before, if you're worried about people actually getting at
 the contents of the stuff in your app, then you shouldn't simply count
 on this, you should also use some form of encryption

Re: [android-developers] How to block Sharing data via share intent

2012-07-16 Thread Bunty syed
Sorry if i presented the content wrong way.
Let me put this way..

If I open a webview in my app using webview android widget that means
control is still in my application.
Now if in the webview, some link is long pressed then android will pop up a
context menu with some options to share.
I want to block that so that any data within my app control wont be shared
via mail,msg,facebook,etc..

 You have it the other way around, I think. I think he wants to

 If it's the second, then yes, it's perhaps interesting, but it sounds,
 after the back and forth we've had, that it's much more likely a
 confused and misguided attempt at the first instead...

 For your own app's EditText widgets, you can call
 setCustomSelectionActionModeCallback() to add your own stuff to the
 action mode.

  Actually, I want to handle cut copy paste share menu items actions in

 Fortunately, this is not possible, for obvious security and privacy

 custom firmware on your own Android device that has this capability,
 if you so choose.

Hi,

I want my app to make connection over the defined wifi network.

Now I am checking the currently active wifi network on the device
comparing the ssids.

that matched wifi network..

But the problem is that two wifi networks can have same ssids..

So just want to know is any there any unique identifier for wifi

 Have you considered calling setLongClickable(false) on those items, or
 setOnLongClickListener() with a listener that does nothing?

 Beware, though, that overriding the expected system behaviour is not
 always a very nice thing to do to a UI; people come to expect these
 standard features in applications. Consider your choice very carefully...

[android-developers] Problem with Location.getTime API

2012-05-03 Thread Bunty syed
Hi,

 I changed the time date of the device..

 Then i launched an app which reads time date using location.getTime
Api as follows---

long time =loc.getTime();
GregorianCalendar gcal = new
GregorianCalendar(TimeZone.getTimeZone(UTC));
gcal.setTimeInMillis(time);

Log.i(Ashiq, day==+gcal.get(GregorianCalendar.DAY_OF_MONTH));
Log.i(,
month==+gcal.get(GregorianCalendar.MONTH));
Log.i(,
yearc==+gcal.get(GregorianCalendar.YEAR));
Log.i(,
hrs==+gcal.get(GregorianCalendar.HOUR));
Log.i(,
minsc==+gcal.get(GregorianCalendar.MINUTE));

But above API returns me time date as per the device time..

Actually it should return the correct time(sataellite or cell tower
based) independent of the device time date.

Thanks  Regards,
Ashiq Sayyad

 Try using TimeZone.getDefault() instead.

 LocationManager is obviously using the local clock for those

 Roll your own SNTP client and go get the time off the Internet.

authentication required or not for the currently active wifi network.

[android-developers] Regarding invoking already launched app with some data with maintaining same state of app

HI,

I have two apps.One app is container app other apps are child apps.

My container app gets notification for child apps.

Now my doubt is I want to invoke some callback in the child apps from
container app to notify running child app about the notification.

Also,if container app notifies child apps , the state of the child app
should be maintained.

For that I am doing following code snippet from the container app..
   Intent i = new Intent(Intent.ACTION_MAIN);
PackageManager manager =
context.getPackageManager();
i = manager.getLaunchIntentForPackage(child
app packagename);
i.addCategory(Intent.CATEGORY_LAUNCHER);
 i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_NEW_TASK );
i.setFlags(Intent.FLAG_ACTIVITY_MULTIPLE_TASK);
i.putExtra(mydata,  some data);

}   */
context.startActivity(i);

With above code, I am able to launch the child app activity in the
same state but intent is coming as null..

Regards,
Bunty
