It's not a useless answer. It's the truth. Google usually don't talk about

There is are two meta issues here:
 1) Google's support system for reported issues is hopeless.
 2) ICS on the Nexus is a disaster, there is so much wrong with it and

In both instances, Google should be pro-actively working to fix these

The VAT stuff is also depending on your country. You should really talk to

From 1st December 2012, the VAT registration threshold for companies

all businesses making taxable supplies within the UK must register for
VAT, regardless of the amounts involved. Many other EU states operate
a similar policy for businesses not established in their countries.
This change may have an impact on overseas businesses making one-off
 supplies to the UK market.

Re: [android-developers] Re: New TAX arrangements?

2012-05-31 Thread David Olsson
I am saying that you are better of seeking consult a professional than just
guess things since there are consequences if things are done incorrectly.
In my country we are allowed to ask questions to the tax authority about
things like this. And perhaps even find local groups to ask this to and not
just hire expensive legal council.
Seeking council from the local tax authority is what I've done and I've
also received good advice and information. These kind of questions pop up
here once in a while and they are never really resolved.

So what you are saying, is that these TAX/VAT issues are too complex
to be discussed here - with fellow developers - and that each of us
should consult tax authorities and legal council in order to continue
developing Android apps - even as a hobby, for fun or pleasure?

I am afraid that you are right, and that each of us has to register
for VAT in at least every EU country.
I am also afraid that this will not happen.

1] some of that hdpxi stuff or whatever it is ( have not got in to

no way to call into the api and even fudge it (detection) as some of
the devices have partial implementation that do not do what one might
 expect

2] I got some crude image code going and noticed there are rendering
classes with which one may provide scale hints and so on but going to
a world where world where every size is potentially available should
be a concern of yours and remain a concern

3] What I suggest is write a .png to .jpeg converter in Java to start
with and write a few files with it and look at them then write several
more images and try to do scaling and anti-alias etc and let that be
your starting point ~ that will tell you more than might think

3.5 only, to a world where every size is potentially available, is a

So I'm wondering, which screen size, resolution, density, do we aim for
 to
start with? Certainly we'll need to work on each of the layout/resource
variations (small, medium, large, xlarge, ldpi, mdpi, hpdi, etc, etc)
 but
I'm looking for a reference point to get started. Should we be
 focusing on
the largest for phones, and largest for tablets, with the expectation
 that
we can mostly scale down from each of those to the smaller phone and
 tablet
  sizes/resolutions/densities?

Any thoughts on this topic are welcome.

Re: [android-developers] How to record a voice and match the recorded voice with the mp3 file that have in raw folder

2012-03-05 Thread David Olsson
Hi,
Can't say that voice recognition is easy but there are some examples out
there. Of course it depends on your skill level and knowledge. Take a look
at those. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/609528/java-voice-recognition

Re: [android-developers] Re: Android Library and Resources

2011-07-06 Thread David Olsson
Clean, refresh more times and test by creating a new copy of the
workspace. I have run into this problem several times, TheKing's
solution works most of the time but the latest time this happened to
me I had to create a new project and then it worked like a charm.

David

Clean, refresh, and rebuild both projects ... several times.
