[android-developers] Re: Sprint Hero Android 2.1 Lost Copy Protected Apps Access

2010-06-03 Thread Guy Cole
I have copy protected apps and a Sprint Hero recently upgraded to 2.1

All of my copy protected apps came back after the update.

On Jun 2, 6:36 pm, Craigo craig...@gmail.com wrote:
Can somebody please confirm that the Spring Hero used to have access
to copy protected apps, however, after the upgrade to Android 2.1,
 they now don't?

If this does get confirmed, is there any alternative to just removing
the copy protection?  Eg: If a user purchased a copy protected app,
then they upgraded to Android 2.1 (which wipes the phone), they can't
reinstall the copy protected app they purchased?

 Thanks.

Re: [android-developers] Re: Android Market Anti-Piracy

2009-11-17 Thread Guy Cole
So let them find another app. That isn't the point.

The point is that some people don't work for free.

I have already decided not to create any new stand alone applications for
Android. Only services, which effectively reduces Android to a client.

On Tue, Nov 17, 2009 at 12:11 PM, Kaj Bjurman kaj.bjur...@gmail.com wrote:

I doubt that it would be as much as 10%. Most people will just try to
 find another app instead.

So you have had 100-300 new installs of pirated apps a day?
Or consistently have 100-300 applications that are pirated run each

I have popular product that was stolen and now are available on
filesharing servers. Per day near by 100-300 people try to install it
on phone and activate, but instead they just placing own IMEI into
black list. And got nothing, application server side already change
security keys and old application failed to activate.

Your also assuming that if you had a perfect protection scheme, that
all these people would buy your product.

I expect that at least 10% of people from that black list will find
application useful and buy it instead of stole it.

[android-developers] self publish to a Tmobile G2?

2009-08-19 Thread Guy Cole

Hello, I have a Android application ready to go.

I would feel more secure about my application if I had it running on
real hardware.

I just signed up for the marketplace and the dev phones are expensive
and out of stock.

OTOH, I could drive over to Tmobile and pick up a G2 this afternoon
for $200 plus the usual entanglements.

W/that background, here are my question:

Can I self publish to a Tmobile G2? Does anybody have a URL w/some
instructions on how to do this?
