[android-developers] Re: Market Place refund is automatically uninstalling apps.

2009-02-25 Thread Jeff Brandt AKA Androidakin

I don't see how you can have it both ways. If you allow people to ask
for a refund and keep the app, they will. There are quite a few
customers how complain about food so they can get it for free or a
discount.

Well to our dismay, it appears that if you issue someone a refund, it
automatically uninstalls their application. There are several cases I
can think of where you might not want this to happen.

 1) You have an upset customer who you would like to issue a refund to,
but still allow them to keep the app. Think restaurant with cold food,
they might bring you hot food out and comp the food. They don't ask
you to regurgitate the food up!

 2) You want to give a few copies of your application away, maybe to
press, maybe to friends, who-ever. You don't want your apk emailed all
over though, so you wish to distribute via the marketplace.

 3) Maybe you want to issue a partial refund.

I am sure there are other alternatives, but right now if you issue a
 refund the application gets deleted.

[android-developers] Re: TERRIBLE BUG IN MARKET APPLICATION (was Re: Paid apps related questions discussion list?)

2009-02-23 Thread Jeff Brandt AKA Androidakin

Hello all,

I decided to pull my app until the OS and Market is fleshed out a
bit.

Good luck all

But most of all I blame Google for the death silence - hello, we're
all developers, we've all made bugs and screwed up. Just stand out and
issue a statement to the customers - we've screwed up, we're pulling
paid apps support for a few more weeks and we'll roll it out again
when it's rock solid. Or at least say *anything*, be it Hey, Stoyan,
shut the fuck up or we'll cancel your account :)

 Cheers

I guess you're lucky but do trust us - we're not trying to blame poor
ratings on Google - that is, I've got several ratings with 5 stars
with comments which make sense, but I do blame Google for the 1 star
ratings related to the Market app bugs.

  Cheers

Related to app size maybe? Mine is only about a meg and a half. How

I uploaded two updates (BEFORE users could download anything). No
reports of any problems at all, sorry you guys are having trouble.

I read about this and didn't want to release an update to my APP but I
finally did it thinking it was fixed. BUT NO, it's still not.  Can I
retract my update?? god damn I am getting so many emails and poor
  ratings about this.

Let's try to figure out collectively, why this is happening?

Is it changing it the protection level?  I tried on and off and have
  not had any successes.

What the hell is google doing?

Right there with you man. Dozens of pissed off users all either

its not them contact the developer. This is beyond lame.
