[android-developers] Re: USB Host/External Keyboard support?
1) Will the typical Android-enabled device be able to support USB devices? I know most PDAs today don't have USB Host support, which throws a wrench into using a lot of external hardware. Ans:-Yes. Lot of Android devices are available in the market they support USB devices (espy Keyboard/NFC reader and Flash drive...etc) This helpful to you:- http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/usb/index.html Eg:- Acer/TOSHIBA/eLocity (they gave Mini USB support also) 2) Will a device running Android typically have an interface (USB, proprietary, whatever) that will allow a user to plug in an external keyboard? I know most PDAs today don't have USB Host support, which throws a wrench into using a lot of external hardware. 2) Will a device running Android typically have an interface (USB, proprietary, whatever) that will allow a user to plug in an external keyboard? I have an idea that I'd like to implement, but the idea involves some users potentially having to do an extended amount of typing on-the-go (only a small percentage of dedicated users, but those dedicated users will definitely want the ability to be able to contribute without having to get back to their home PC first), which won't be worth much if you can only type on a virtual keyboard or one of those thumbpad keyboards. The solution would partly involve allowing contributions to come from desktop PCs (where you'd certainly have a full size keyboard), but I think it'd be great if it could come from the mobile device itself so you weren't strapped to a desktop/laptop for the content creation part of the application. Thanks in advance for any information you may have found out! -Alex If anyone has found any hints of answers to either of these, I'd greatly appreciate any info you've found. [android-developers] What OS is more user friendly for Android development.
I have found some problems with Ubuntu and Windows when I connected Dell Streak device, its not detecting in DDMS tool, then I am unable to debug my app. I try download the related drivers still not detecting. Could you suggest me how can I avoid USB drivers problem while connecting to DDMS debugging. Which OS is more flexible for Apps and OEM development (its should not give driver problems or detection error). How much MacOS is good for debugging and image creations. Is it more suggestible than Windows and Ubuntu? Finally What OS is more preferable for Android Apps and OEM development? Windows or Ubuntu or Mac OS. Please suggest me advantages and disadvantages.
