[android-developers] Android phones

2009-06-29 Thread chris.compo

Hi All

I tried getting my new HTC Magic to work with my Tom Tom Sat Nav, the
basics worked fine but then I got this message.

Your phone needs to support Wireless Data Connection (Dun)
Capabilities to use TomTom Plus Services.

Can this be done soon? I need to use those services, would it be an
update type download or a seperate download?

or if there is already a setting please let me know asap

[android-developers] Android phones

2010-10-26 Thread kypriakos

Do most of the Android developers on this list use their own phone
for
testing? Or there are ways to obtain Android phones that are unlocked
and require no contract? Any advice on that?

Thanks

Google is selling unlocked Android phones for 399.00 and 479.00. Is
there a good reason for me to get one of these to develop on as
opposed to a 230.00 phone at MetroPCS? Can someone help me understand
the difference?

There's no problem in getting I believe any android phone w/o any contract.
You will have to pay higher price but this is not a problem. Google around,
check electronic stores or ebay and you will get tons of options

I guess the difference is the hardware...
you can develop in any android phone, if you are planning application
development. You just have to go to settings -> applications -> Develop, and
check there USB debugging :)

I will suggest you to check www.geeksphone.com as they sell their phones
with root access :)

2011-03-26 Thread Kostya Vasilyev

Bob,

The actual difference depends on whether you plan on building and
installing firmware, or just building applications.

If it's the latter, any phone that has Android Market should work.

RE: [android-developers] Android phones

2011-03-26 Thread Tommy
The phones from android are rooted and able to be used on any carrier with a
supported network. Like Kostya said if your just doing app development any
android phone with the market on it will work (rooted or not) if you want to
do firmware or mess with the android OS itself like making custom roms you
would probably be better off with one from google.

[android-developers] Android phones auto-connecting to unsupported Passpoint/Hotspot2.0 SSIDs

2016-11-10 Thread Ranganath Jilla
Issue details:
1. We have observed Android devices from various vendors attempting to
auto-connect to unsupported Passpoint/Hotspot2.0 SSIDs. In the same
environment, we do not see iOS devices behaving the same.
2. By unsupported I mean, the carrier/operator is not enabled in the
Passpoint settings of SSID profile (3GPP cellular information MCC and MNC
are not configured)
3. To the same SSID profile 2 operators are supported with complete 3GPP
cellular information configuration and verified working with supported
devices
4. Auto-connect to Passpoint networks settings in the android phones is
enabled.

Questions:
1. With the above information, does android devices try to auto-connect and
try to authenticate to Passpoint enabled networks even when the operator is
not supported?
2. Can some one help me provide some documentation on how the auto-connect
to passpoint networks feature works on android? Especially Samsung devices
like Galaxy S7 and S6.

Can someone help me here? If this is not the correct group, kindly redirect
me. Thanks a lot.
