Re: [android-developers] nexus s ICS Action bar overflow button problem

2012-01-04 Thread Mark Murphy
The overflow button will only appear on devices that lack the
dedicated off-screen MENU button. So, you will not see it on the Nexus
S, but you will see it on a Galaxy Nexus.

[android-developers] Nexus S Flash torch mode not working

2011-12-27 Thread Efi Merdler-Kravitz
Hey everybody,

I'm using Nexus S Android 2.3 stock version. Whenever I'm trying to
set the flash to torch mode:

if (camera == null) {
mCamera = camera = Camera.open();
}
final Parameters params = camera.getParameters();
params.setFlashMode(MODE_TORCH);
camera.setParameters(params);

nothing happens, the flash is not working at all. This piece of code
works perfectly on nexus one.

I've found this -http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5017455/how-to-use-
camera-flash-led-as-torch-on-a-samsung-galaxy-tab and also this one -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=923786 none of them
seems to help.

Why ?

[android-developers] Nexus S - Six month - and still no update of the zoneinfo?

2011-10-31 Thread zl0pi
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=21377

In 2011, the Russian government proclaimed that daylight saving time
would in future be observed all year round, thus effectively
displacing standard time—an action which the government claimed
emerged from health concerns attributed to the annual shift back-and-
forth between standard time and daylight saving time.[1] On 27 March
2011, Muscovites set their clocks forward for a final time,
effectively observing MSD, or UTC+4, permanently.

[android-developers] Nexus-S SDK Skin.

2011-09-13 Thread sblantipodi
Hi,
I founded tons of guides that explains how to install NexusS skin on
SDK but it doesn't work.

They all says to copy the skin folder in
c:\android-sdk-windows\platforms\android-9\skins\NEXUS-S

I've done it but I can't find the skin in my AVD Manager when trying
to create a simulator with that skin...

Any idea?

[android-developers] Nexus S,how to exchange ndef data via p2p.

2011-06-13 Thread Tommy
Hi all:
 I have some questions about android2.3 NFC of p2p.
 1. i send the ndef data by the enableForegroundNdefPush(this,
mMessage)function in onResume,but how can i known that the mMessage is
send over,can i got the notification or Intent?
 2.  As i know,in p2p module there have two parts,the initiator
and the target.I think int the question one activity called
enableForegroundNdefPush(this, mMessage) , it's initiator ,am is think
right?
 3.  If in question tow i'm right,the target(another Nexus S
phone,or a nfc reader in my desktop) received the ndef data
mMessage,and send a response to initiator,how can i got the ndef
response.
 4. In target terminal such as another Nexus s phone,how can i get
the p2p inittiator pushed ndef data.
  Ndef myTag=Ndef.get(tag);
  myTag.connect();
  if (myTag.isConnected())
  {
myTag.getNdefMessage();
  }

 Thanks  for any hints.

[android-developers] Nexus S Surface Flinger Permission

2011-05-23 Thread Naureen
Hello,

I am currently stuck with the place where my application needs
permission to access the surface flinger.

I got the following error Message :

W/ServiceManager( 176): Permission failure:
android.permission.ACCESS_SURFACE_FLINGER from uid= 1080 pid= 10020

E/SurfaceFlinger( 176): Permission Denial: can't access
SurfaceFlinger pid=108, uid=10020

Applications signed with same system keys by which an phone
resource lib is signed only can access the surface flinger.

I have tryed by signing my app by platform
certificate(platform.x509.pem) and private key(platform.pk8) that
comes with open source (built/target/product/security)
GingerBread(2.3.3).

But it didn't worked.

How i will get the platform certificate(platform.x509.pem) and
private key(platform.pk8) to sign my app by which Nexus S surface
flinger is signed.

OR If anyone has faced the same problem and solved it please
help..

Thank You..
Naureen

Re: [android-developers] Nexus S Surface Flinger Permission

2011-05-23 Thread Dianne Hackborn
This is not available in the SDK, which is what this group is about. You
can only do this if making your own custom build of the platform, so you
should ask this in somewhere like android-porting.

[android-developers] Nexus S GRI54 cannot update to 2.3.4

2011-05-03 Thread Ricky Law
Hi all,

I am using Nexus S with Build Number GRI54, Baseband version
I9023XXKB3.
And I received the update notification Today.
After I push update and waiting, I saw a triangle with exclamation
mark during OTA.
I hold the power button and volume up button at the same time, and
screen show that update had an error 7.

Is GRI54 cannot update to 2.3.4?

[android-developers] nexus s mifare desfire ev1

2011-04-15 Thread v.houba
Hello,

im trying out some new nexus s nfc functionality. since mifare
emulation is not (so far?) available for this device (or just
software?) im playing with proximity cards.
basically, i have a mifare desfire ev1 chip but for some reason i
cannot communicate it using NfcA.transcieve - im gettin IOException
with null getMessage().
Below is found the code i use. I can get valid id and techlist from
the tag. This code uses its own thread as well.

try {
Tag tag =
intent.getParcelableExtra(NfcAdapter.EXTRA_TAG);

txtTagId.setText(Tools.getHexString(tag.getId()));
txtTagTech.setText(Tools.join(, , tag.getTechList()));

NfcA T = NfcA.get(tag);

T.connect();

final byte[] APDU_getVersion = new byte[] { 0x60 };

byte[] response = T.transceive(APDU_getVersion);

T.close();

// notifyAll();
} catch (Exception e) {
Tools.DisplayException(e, ctx);
} finally {

}

Do you suggest any changes to the code?

The Nexus S has external storage, even though it does not have an SD

installed have external storage, regardless of whether or not they
have an SD card slot or card.

[android-developers] Nexus S and no SD Card problem

2011-03-28 Thread EdV-IT
Hi there,

i am a developer off a application which needs WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE
permission.
I now have the following problem:
a customer has bought my app a while ago and all was working fine. Now
he has bought a new phone (Nexus S
without a SD Card), he wants to reinstal this app but it is not
visible in the Market. I think this is because the app needs
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permission and the phone does not have a SD

permission. This one he can download!
Anny ideas how i can solve this

[android-developers] Nexus S and gingerbread Sensor events — Which sensor uses what hardware ?

2011-03-14 Thread Pritam
Could someone help to know which sensor uses which part of phone's
hardware or in what combination of this on Nexus S in android 2.3 ?

Following are the sensor events:

TYPE_ACCELEROMETER

TYPE_GYROSCOPE

TYPE_GRAVITY

TYPE_LINEAR_ACCELERATION

TYPE_ORIENTATION

TYPE_ROTATION_VECTOR

I assume first 2 corresponds to separate hardware (accelerometer and
gyroscope),

but how with the other remaining ones ?

Does TYPE_LINEAR_ACCELERATION uses both Acceleromter and Gyroscope
hardware at its best?

I am actually interested in linear aceleration so should I need not
worry about gyro events, if linear acceleration internally uses gyro
to give out values ?

Also when tested on device ( Nexus S ) linear accelerations found to
give high values for minor shakes , so assuming this removes gravity
vector, this was not expected.

Thanks.
