Re: [android-developers] Re: Refunds in the Market
How do others handle this kind of request..? Market shall feature coupons. But unless that happen you can offer them refund with other channel, like PayPal? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. Here's the developer perspective: As Mark noted above, the Refund some money option does apparently not allow you to actually refund some money. It's all or nothing. I clicked through anyway to see if it was just a horrible UI and there was another step, but no, it just refunded and effectively canceled the order. Brill can give you the user perspective when he comes around, but I think he uninstalled my app and was not able to re-install (as expected). I keep getting requests from users to translate my app if I give them a free copy. I'd be happy to do that, but if I refund them and Google treats that as a cancellation and the LVL starts responding no, then this isn't possible. I do not know how LVL would respond as I have not added it yet, but the user would not be able to upgrade the app after a refund (though we didn't test this to be certain). How do others handle this kind of request..? Use a good payment processing system that actually works - like PayPal. One time a user emailed me because she switched Gmail accounts and didn't want to repay for the app, so I just had her buy the app with the new account and sent her the cost via my personal PayPal account. Of course, you lose out on the transaction fee, but it's rare enough that it's negligible. - TreKing http://sites.google.com/site/rezmobileapps/treking - Chicago transit tracking app for Android-powered devices -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. Re: [android-developers] Re: Refunds in the Market
Thanks for the quick reply. I've mailed the user and asked if he has PayPal and I'll try it that way - I've never used Paypal to transfer money this way before, so it's a learning experience for us all! I guess the one thing to be aware of is that the user still has to be in a country where Google allows Market purchases and they have a valid Checkout account. Since my app uses LVL then they must still purchase it via the Market. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups Android Developers group. I get that link too, but when you click on it, you cannot then edit the amount. Can you do it further down the line?
