GPRS is working for me too! Great job, Michael and Sean!

I'm also seeing occasional dialogs pop up with a long hexadecimal
string as the message. I captured this message in the radio log, which
seems to contain the same hex string:

D/AT ( 829): MUX[primary]: AT +CUSD:
0,546865206C617374207472616E73616374696F6E20636F737420302E3030205553442E20596F7572206163636F756E742062616C616E63652069732031302E3530205553442E,15

I'm guessing this is related to the USSD messaging. My account is
prepaid, and on other phones I receive various usage messages, but I
have seen them on the Freerunner up until now.

Yes, that's what I did.

BTW, one issue I noticed with the new freerunnner-v14.5.jffs2.
Michael's blog post announcing v14.4 says power button press more 2
secs go to suspend. That works for me in 14.5. The problem is that it
breaks the Home button functionality, which was mapped to the same
action.

Michael, could we get a 1 sec pres of Aux mapped to Home?

Thanks,

Michael,
you just published a new freerunner-ril.so version, and your readme.txt says :

Add deep suspend of ti_calypso

But as far as I know, there is still the pending bug :
http://docs.openmoko.org/trac/ticket/1024
(gsm modem oscillating between registrated / not-registrated)
And the workaround for now is to _not_ use calypso deep sleep.

I hope we can find a better workaround.

So do I, but it looks like the problem is in the GSM firmware and the
changelog (up to moko11) doesn't seem to mention sleep. The bug linked by
cedric seems to have been inactive for a couple of months too.

OM seem to be focused elsewhere right now.

Re: [android-freerunner] Can anyone has tested gprs?

2009-02-27 Thread Jim Ancona
Here's an interesting log capture. I'm using FS 14.3,
freerunner-ril.so dated February 27 09 16:12:10 and kernel v13. I
switched from have my carrier (ATT) selected to automatic selection
and got the trace below. Based on the Error creating PPP options
file: /data/misc/ppp/options.gprs. message near the end, I added the
following line to init.rc and tried again:

mkdir /data/misc/ppp 0771 radio system

I then rebooted and tried again. The log is below. No error creating
PPP options file, but still no connection.

Any suggestions?

Jim

Hello,

I tried the v15 image but it didn't register with my GSM network. When I did
a search in settings( wireless controls - mobile networks ) no networks
could be found. Re-flashed with v14 image and it worked ( finding and
connecting to GSM, not gprs of course ).

I couldn't find any error messages in adb logcat.

Well I think that I have the same problem of gsmmuxd that is was
fixed in recent kernel (I hope).

  In the v16:

  - fix and invalid command send during resume
  - send AT+CGREG on the primary channel
  - add Sean McNeil patch to frameworks (recent post)
  - add better print on radio log

The problem that I can't test gprs (I'm not sure because vodafone italy
website report that
I can use only in italy, but I live in spain), So if you try to setup
apn and send me your

2009-02-26 Thread Giorgio M.
Sorry i'm at work now, i will try later at home.

I have a big problem since i have created the new APN (or maybe since
yesterday when i flashed the v15 image): i lost GSM signal and i have to
reboot!

I rebooted 3 times and finally got signal again but, im able to receive
calls not all the times..seems to be random.

I don't know if it is releted to APN created or in general to the v15
image but it is very annoying for me!

Could you take a look for this trouble? when i'm at home i will try the

I am flashing v14.3. Not tested yet

Are there modifications to match with uImage-v13 ?
Because I have first tested this new kernel with android image v14,
and I had the frozen, twice (I had to pull battery). Not sure if it
was when it tried to suspend...

I'm happy if crash on resume instead of suspend :).

I update the ril library with network list and manual selection.

The first is taken by Sean McNeil code and the second is mine.

Michael,

I'm downloading your v15 image and I'll give it a try. I found this
page useful in setting up the APN for GPRS access, but you will need
to Google for the setting for your carrier:

Hi,

Sean McNeil wrote:

Hi Michael,

GPRS settings are in the settings-Wireless controls-Mobile

You'll also need the following changes:

https://review.source.android.com/Gerrit#change,9010

Sean

I will apply them.

Thanks
