Not sure if your question was answered: you'll need to open up the XMI and do a 
search and replace to replace any occurances of 3.0 with 3.1-RC1-SNAPSHOT (or 
whatever version you're changing to).  You'll then need to follow the steps 
that Wouter described (if going to 3.1-RC1-SNAPSHOT).

Ahhh - thanks Chad.



Yep - I hadn't twigged that the .xmi needed to be opened in a text editor, and 
then a search and replace performed. Just did that then, and it works a treat. 
Its a pity MagicDraw can't point to a profile rather than import it in toto 
(this would make it easy to point to other profiles). 



In any case, I'm sorted - thanks for the answer guys.

it is pointing to another profile, the problem is that it uses the file name of 
that profile in the references to elements inside it



MagicDraw allows importing an entire UML model as well as just referencing it 
(= greyed out and read-only)
