[Angstrom-devel] Backport candidates from .dev

2008-01-24 Thread Koen Kooi

Hi,

There are some interesting updates in .dev that would benefit going into
the stable branch:

* java updates
* dbus update
* cups update
* DEBIANNAMES updates
* EFL updates
* qt4 updates
* kernel updates
(* Graemes qtopia-phone recipe)

I would like to ask everyone to make a list of commits in .dev they want
to have in the stable branch so we can put some updated images online
(~mid february) including updated kernels for e.g. poodle, simpad, tosa
and others. This should also be the point where we enable more modules
in the defconfigs (I got bitten by missing iptables support in the efika
kernel last week).

I would like to propose 20080201 as the point where the autobuilder will
start building the images, so mentors and testers have approx. 2 weeks
to test the images before moving them to the release location.

What do you think?

regards,

Koen

I would like to wait for 2.6.24 release and then update Zaurus machines to
this version. We (OpenedHand) worked recently on limiting amount of
wakeups (measured with PowerTOP) so it should make battery life longer.

Do you have any idea how lucky you are that I don't have telekinetic

Sounds sensible :) What's the status of poodle, collie and tosa with
linux-rp 2.6.23+2.6.24rcX?

Koen

Thomas works on collie support, Dmitry works on Tosa and both machines are
rather required to be tested before they will be given to users. So I
think that those ones will wait.

Poodle support is also unknown for me - Richard has device so it is
probably usable.

I'll get with Helge and we'll try to do some poodle testing on inux-rp
2.6.23+2.6.24rcX this weekend. 2.6.23 has been working well, but I
haven't had a chance to fully test wireless yet.

  To get vcard import working in gpe-calendar, etc, I'd like to merge
this change accompanied by removing PREFERRED_VERSION from
angstrom-2007-preferred-versions.inc and bumping of gpe-calendar, etc.

[Angstrom-devel] VoIP?

2008-01-24 Thread Capn_Fish Zaurus
I kind of have a 2-part question here. First off, are there any VoIP clients
for Angstrom that I can just BitBake? Second, I built Linphone manually, but
its sound quality is abysmal. I tested it with my laptop, and it sounds fine
there. Does anybody have any ideas as to what would improve the audio
quality? I realize this is a poor place to ask, and I already asked on the
Linphone mailing list (awaiting a response), but figured it couldn't hurt to
ask.

Thanks in advance.
