Re: [Angstrom-devel] kernel config
Hi, Thanks Gary that’s just what I was looking for. On a related note I notice that when I build Angstrom it downloads, patches and builds u-boot. I have a question that relates to other packages too. I want to modify the config for u-boot, enabling some commands & exposing certain functions to loadable ‘stand alone’ modules. I may also want to adjust the applets that are included in busybox. Is there a workflow defined for performing changes like this ? what is the safest and most compatible (with the “Angstrom way”) method ? If you want a one-off way: % bitbake virtual/kernel -c menuconfig % bitbake virtual/kernel -f -c compile % bitbake virtual/kernel The last two steps are needed to force the build to update (bitbake doesn't realize that running menuconfig obviates compile and beyond as far as I know) I'm not sure if there is an official/recommended way to use an adjusted configuration permanently. -- Gary Thomas | Consulting for the MLB Associates |Embedded world ___ Angstrom-distro-devel mailing list Angstrom-distro-devel@linuxtogo.org http://lists.linuxtogo.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/angstrom-distro-devel
Re: [Angstrom-devel] kernel config
Hi again, I've been copying out my customised .config from the kernel root to the linux recipe specific defconfig file. This appears to be copied over as the kernel is unpacked and the recipe deals with patches and other files that need to be applied. (No doubt there is a better way :) On a related note, I've modified the linux-imx _git recipe to use a linux kernel tree from a Git repository rather than pulling it down from Freescale and patching it. All works well but the Git repo seems to be stripped of the Git metadata. I can see that perhaps makes sense for a build environment but I'd like to keep the kernel tree as a Git repo so I can develop. Can anybody suggest an option I can add to the recipe to make it not strip out the checked out revision?
