Not that this helps you, but I successfully run aolserver under
valgrind without any database module loaded.

Yeah.  I know it's supposed to work.  Oracle just refuses to cooperate
it seems.  I'm not sure why nor how valgrind could result in a TNS
permission denied error.  I've seen a few cases similar to mine on the
net, and none of them have a solution.
