First off, don't reply to an unrelated message. That breaks threading. Re: [Apertium-stuff] Null-subject resolution
Great, Tanmai! Probably, it would be better to generate the pronoun in t2x rather that t1x, I think, but the new module apertium-recursive ( http://wiki.apertium.org/wiki/Apertium-recursive ) should be taken into account too. I couldn't try it yet, but it looks very powerful. By the way, one of the problems we meet is that we have to be sure that the subject is not yet in the sentence (for instance, "el hombre que vino ayer" = "the man who came yesterday" but "el hombre que escucharon ayer" = "the man they listen yesterday"). Re: [Apertium-stuff] Null-subject resolution
Hey Hèctor, I'm in the process of implementing conditional anaphora resolution where you can define multiple anaphors. We can define verbs as a type of anaphor and give the rules the appropriate scores to guess a reference(subject in this case). This should work decently because Anaphora resolution is to a large extent trying to guess the subject. After guessing a subject we just have to add the appropriate preposition. I'm not sure if this would be done in t1x or t2x. I remember thinking about this and I think we decided t2x is the place to do this, and if that's the case we need to find a way to pass ref to t2x also. Or if we can find a way to add a subject in t1x that would be way easier. Let me know what you think. Hi Suraj, You know that Apertium is a rule based machine translation platform and not a neural network based one, right? Because even if in your proposal you start defining how Apertium works, most of your proposal is basically an overview on how Neural Machine Translation works. And the section where you speak about NMT is called "my basic module". Also, based on your proposed weekly schedule, I didn't understand what your plan is: all week details are very vague and no specific points are mentioned (design module, implement module, study algorithms, fully integration of algorithms,... are examples of "things" you plan to do. Could you try to be a bit more concrete on what you plan to do? -- Xavi Ivars < http://xavi.ivars.me > El ds., 24 de març 2018, 23:00, Suraj Tamgaleva escriure: > hi everyone, > i've submitted the proposal.i will be extremely happy if someone take a > look at it and give review. > > link to my draft: h > https://docs.google.com/document/d/11uI3WsQ5_L4HEyETqqgmzXTsR7fUSCd01fKe8VhekXM/edit?usp=sharing > > > -- > Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most > engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot > ___ > Apertium-stuff mailing list > Apertium-stuff@lists.sourceforge.net > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/apertium-stuff > -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot___ Apertium-stuff mailing list Apertium-stuff@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/apertium-stuff
Re: [Apertium-stuff] (no subject)
Hi Suraj, A pair involving Sanskrit is a bad choice for Apertium because of *sandhi*. For example, the sentence जानामि अहम् (*jaanaami aham*, 'I know') is actually written as one word: जानाम्यहम् (*jaanaamyaham*, 'I know'). Any number of words can be joined together like this with *sandhi*, regardless of part-of-speech, and furthermore those words are inflected too (like the example). To analyze Sanskrit text, you would have to be able to break the *sandhi *of arbitrarily inflected forms; this is not trivial, not easily possible with Apertium tools (I believe), and definitely very hard to disambiguate when you have multiple possible breaks in a word. Maybe you can work on another language pair involving Indian languages, if you know anything beyond Sanskrit and Hindi?
