Hello All,
Thank you so much for RSVP-ing for the nationwide conference call to defeat
this disastrous
bill.
Once again, the call will be tomorrow, Fri., 12 noon Pacific time and 3:00 PM
Eastern time.
Please be on time.
Here are instructions for the call:
Please dial 530-881-1399, then type on your phone key pad your Participant
Access Code -
494421#
This is not a pay per minute call, it is totally free, but there may be long
distance
charges if you do not have long distance included in your calling plan.
When you call in, it is important that you wait for the automatic voice prompt
to finish
telling you what to do or you will get a "wrong number" message. So please
allow the
automated machine to say its piece and then dial your access code. If you do
get the "wrong
number" message, it just means you interrupted the machine's voice, so just
hang up and
re-dial, allowing the voice to finish its prompts before entering your access
code.
Because of the very large number of RSVPs for this call (which is fantastic!)
we are going
to have to do things slightly differently than for a smaller conference call,
just to avoid
total chaos with no one being able to hear each other.
When you first come on the phone, we will all be on at once, there will be some
initial
chatting, but that will come to a quick end as more people come on as it will
be too much.
I will then "mute" everyone and begin our call. Don't worry, you will get your
chance to
speak or ask qs, but because of the number of people, I am asking that people
please be
aware of the amount of time they are talking so as to give others a chance to
ask qs or
speak and so that we can keep the call to a reasonable amount of time.
Once I have muted everyone, you will dial *6 when you wish to speak or ask qs
and I will
un-mute you.
If you are muted and the person talking brings something up that you have a q
about or want
to speak about, just write it down, press *6 and you will be un-muted in the
order which the
requests to speak come in.
There is always a 2 or 3 second pause between muting and un-muting. so please
be patient.
Also, because of the time difference - we have people from all over the US
(which is very
exciting!) we may have people on the East Coast briefly ask qs or speak first
since their
reps offices will be closing 3 hours earlier than us on the West Coast, since
they may want
to call their reps as soon as they hang up, before their offices close at 5:00
PM (2:00 PM
West coast time).
Please dial in a couple of minutes early if you can, or just not be late so we
don't have to
repeat things for late comers.
I will follow this email with links to your representatives so that we can
begin the
stopping of this bill in its tracks immediately tomorrow after the call.
Thank you so much again for your participation, energies and efforts in
stopping this
"smart" travesty. It usually "takes a village", in this case, it takes
country!!!
