[apple-crop] IFTA 2012 Conference presentations

2012-02-15 Thread maurice tougas
The majority of the power point presentations given in Santiago, Chile at
the 2012 IFTA Conference a couple weeks ago are now online on the IFTA
website (ifruittree.org).

They can be found in the "Research & Links" section, "Presentations"
subsection.

Hope to see you all at the Boston 2013 IFTA Conference next February!

Re: [apple-crop] Scythe (pelargonic acid)

2012-02-15 Thread Peter Werts
Jon,

Thanks, as you may recall I am responsible for updates to the Red Tomato Eco
Apple Protocol. I evaluate and update this list annually with input from folks
such as yourself. This product is on our protocol, so I am just trying to find
out more about it.

Thanks,

Peter

Re: [apple-crop] Scythe (pelargonic acid)

2012-02-15 Thread Jon Clements
I have used it and it is briefly referenced in our New England Tree
Fruit Management Guide:

http://fruit.umext.umass.edu/2011netfmg/8-weed.pdf

It works solely as a local contact herbicide. Best results are
achieved with the higher rate, and then it becomes quite expensive.
As Win alluded, other products probably give you better and quicker
burn-down, i.e., Gramoxone, Rely.
