[arch-dev-public] KDE 4.11 enters [extra]

2013-08-19 Thread Andrea Scarpino
Hi all,
another KDE 4.x major release has been released[1] and it's in [extra].

See the upstream announce for the new features/changes.

In Arch, the following packages have been added:
- a strigi analyzer, kdenetwork-strigi-analyzers (at the moment for torrent
files only);
- a thumbnailer, kdesdk-thumbnailers (at the moment for po files only);
- a runner, kdeplasma-addons-runner-translator;
The kdeplasma-addons-applets-kdeobservatory plasmoid has been removed from
the KDE SC.
Also, there are no more kdeadmin, kdenetwork, kdesdk and kdetoys PKGBUILDs,
instead each application, in those modules, has its own PKGBUILD.

There is also a soname bump: libkipi.so.10 -> libkipi.so.11

Have a nice update!

Re: [arch-dev-public] db6 rebuild dropped - new ToDo list

2013-08-19 Thread Tobias Powalowski
For pam it is only used for pam_userdb.so module.
It's not active in the default /etc/pam.d/ files so probably we can just
drop it.

I would suggest to keep db support here for now. Esp. when user
interaction is required and there is a good chance of breakage. There is
no need to hurry, as db5 will be around and used by other distros for
some time. In these cases it would be best to push the decision
upstream.

Greetings,

Pierre

[arch-dev-public] nvidia-304 packages

2013-08-19 Thread Andreas Radke
I don't have a Nvidia card anymore. I've done a final untested bump to
304.108 to testing. I'm orphaning nvidia-304-utils and both kernel
modules now.

If nobody will pick them up we should move them to community or AUR.

All I can say on the matter is that I have a laptop at work which used
nvidia-304xx - however, it had so many problems that I switched that
machine to nouveau. Given the low maintenance effort that nvidia puts
into those legacy releases, I wouldn't mind if those packages were
dropped entirely.

It seems there is no license in the archlinux-keyring repository, and
the Arch Linux package says "GPL", which may not even make sense for
this stuff (the package doesn't include the scripts, only the collection
of PGP keys).

I CC'd Pierre - can we clarify the license on this?

I do not believe a license is required as the contents of this package
do not qualify as intellectual property, and therefore do not fall under
any redistribution protecting law.

See for instance what I have done for the dnssec-anchors package.
