Are you using 2.6.32 on the isos? I suppose you don't want to change
this, but I think there are more devices than just the asus 1005HA
using this wireless chip, and it really doesn't work with 2.6.32. This
could be a pain for some people.

all images should be built with 2.6.33.3-2,
it's also this kernel that should be available as a package on core
images.
i have to go now, i can check later what the package is in core images,

okay, where do you guys see this 2.6.32 ?
netinstall and core install use 2.6.33, and the version
in /src/core/pkg on the core image is also 2.6.33 (tested the i686

so please explain.. or are you doing a netinstall with a really

gecko-mediaplayer, it depends on Gnome-Mplayer but that itself doesn't
rely on GNOME despite the name.

Gnome MPlayer is not dependent on any Gnome libraries. However. the look
and feel of the application is based on the Gnome HIG. The main dependency
is on GTK2, GLIB2 and DBUS. - straight off the gnome-mplayer website.

do you mean a general mirroring tool ?
as i didn't found anything pkg specific mirror tool...

and wouldn't a mirror tool require my server to have ALL
core/extra/community packages ? how big are those repos ?

it seems there is (yet) no pkg-proxy tool (ala apt-proxy[0]) that
could be used from installer and on. also the proxy should get new
files only when a client needs it...

i assume Xyne is the author of pkgd, ill contact him/her later and ask
if these features are possible to implement in pkgd. but for now, ill
just get packages (net)install wants from internet, and use pkgd after
that (and add pkgs that clients want manually to the pkgd server)

[arch-general] final final testing images

Okay guys,

props to Thomas for finding out the problem with the initialization of
wireless cards.

I built new images, dated 2010.05.16 (aka final final images ;)) in
which this should be fixed, and which also come with updated core
packages, most notably kernel26-2.6.33.4-1

http://build.archlinux.org/isos/

thanks to everyone who tested the 2010.05.13 (or earlier) images.
i received confirmation for 4 images with which a boot+installation went fine.
for netinstall-dual.iso I only reiceved confirmation that it boots fine
(but that's enough, given the other tested images).
However i got no feedback for the core-x86_64 image.

So right now, these two things are needed:
* confirmation that archlinux-2010.05.16-core-x86_64.iso boots fine.
* confirmation that wireless cards are properly initialised now.

cheers, and stay tuned for a release soonish :)

Would like to help testing it out, but my weekend internet (home
connection) sucks, and by the time I get into the office it may be done
already. In any case, if that doesn't happen I'll try to get the last
two things confirmed.

By 'boots' I assume you mean from CD? I intend to try it out on my
physical system using unetbootin, but if you want it from CD I can just
fire up VBox. Which would you prefer? Physical means I should be able to
test wifi as well.
