How do you shutdown your Computer? If you use shutdown, your Computer
will be in maintenance mode IIRC. You must use the command halt.

Okay, poweroff is a symlink to halt for me. What about trying halt
directly for shutting down the laptop? Is this a new behaviour for your
laptop? Did you maybe install ACPI-related updates?

[arch-general] blueman failed to send file to device without obexftp service

2012-02-19 Thread XeCycle
Hello,

I have an Android 2.3 phone, and blueman failed to send file to it.
Nor did obexfs mount the phone. After some check, I found the phone
doesn't support OBEX FTP, but supports OBEX Object Push. So I managed
to send the file with ussp-push.

Is there a workaround for blueman? Or have I misconfigured something?

Thank you.

[arch-general] mplayer steals system sound

Hi list,
my system-sound (alsa) was working, until I installed mplayer. Now
mplayer is working - but system-sound is gone. No way to regulate volume
in alsamixer, it seems mplayer has occupied the system.

How can I use mplayer _and_ have sound for youtube etc again?
Thanks for any tips.

What exactly happens? Are there no mixers, is it not possible to

Just having it installed (very unlikely) or when it is running?

Are you using pulseaudio? If not, do that. If you are, then make sure

When playing mplayer, there is a playback mixer in alsamixer, and it
works. When mplayer is stopped, the playback mixer is gone, while the

FWIW, I do not use pulse, and I have zero problems running mplayer and
getting sound from other apps at the same time.

Something is odd here. When using pulseaudio there should be two
mixers in alsamixer, Master and Capture (when you select the view

So, use `-ao pulse' when running mplayer (or add that to config).
Use pavucontrol as the mixer. There should be no problem.
