Re: [arch-general] what's wrong with my alsa configuration?
Solved. Turns out either alsa oand/or vlc get very upset when pulseaudio isn't installed and running. I installed pulseaudio-alsa then ran pulseaudio --start in user account and errors disappeared. --
[arch-general] what's wrong with my alsa configuration?
I'm using vlc to play a stream and got the same error when trying to play an mp3 file earlier. The stream and the file play eventually. I searched for this one using duckduckgo and got one result in german which I do not speak and certainly do not do technical german which is why I'm asking here. ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:1052:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to create IPC semaphore --
[arch-general] Archiso doesn't show prompt
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 Ahoi, I have a Supermicro server and since last month archiso doesn't work anymore. The 2020.04 iso did boot fine but the 2020.05 and 2020.06 boots up but doesn't show the prompt. I just get a cursor that blinks and nothing more. When I switch to other ttys there is also just the blinking cursor. I don't know what I can do to further debug this. My hardware is a Supermicro X11SSH-LN4F with a Xeon E3-1275v6. - -- Greetings Ricardo Band https:// www.ricardo.band mailto:// em...@ricardo.band xmpp://jab...@ricardo.band -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iQIzBAEBCgAdFiEEhyzgFNiV8yZuI1T5Gp1lfQa1gg4FAl7gBT0ACgkQGp1lfQa1 gg7UixAAi75mXsmXOb9ZvDdwCTBJj3f4bIajcfp7jBt1KP+TTNOGA7w6oPA6ofqx dMxS/WWV0hoR8M1x7XQPvnDugohmTYBbQSeSqRyEDIGUd+DeIaVd1KcSaweqG4PZ WP01lqXursj0zCVNZ2iQXdGx1gd/9KDp3MQH4cO2Us5XDlI1FzOph2YRFmbfWenR NA1ZqrMg/YjJKx5VTrlZzO/YqdphAtl1gLGrjEbJ5+EMkSC6Hefb6jSEdTE6CEiB DBrpW6ckRXMO+CWIhF1/7kfFeCLNQvyTG9+brytsJe/pJDtqp48ACxU+xqcIKhhs EU98iyDO+xBpYtMUh5YY+4Hg2N598FLmLMsiFQQH4XnBKv+hkp38m+NZBt3SpwjB MyQT3mWNrfhbGXEqhMus1FSNO+AtNJZKG4vJTy8oOxQmEu9cQ6J7xykb1wntyq5M lL40kS9zPXyGD0Dsk2cArsJ9f1g/xntpxe/GRlOm3xDLsNQA0vU12VHZRxp7si+l E1XoaNsOu9xsLa2VcyzUXQhu5hYT4fFMO6vzQm5tixZvmozH0UYWI4rTxboGC8XY g508kO8wVxr1x1t//AZgnuUnMP46C28AFXNrMn3tOpnohWk5yX85eFAeCUc5AP+F 0ERy8AGsqRMZWejLGzyf/5xHLd1rw3XRqzodHWGAecwQ500gGHU= =uT9M -END PGP SIGNATURE-
[arch-general] community/cascadia-code-ttf out of date
We're behind by 4 releases for the cascadia code font: https://github.com/microsoft/cascadia-code/releases This particularly interests me because they've added a non-ligature build of the font which they named Cascadia Mono. I took a stab at updating the PKGBUILD in the subversion repository and ended up with the attached patch which installs both Cascadia Code and Cascadia Mono. It's worth noting that the patch is only for one of the PKGBUILDs in tff-cascadia-code so the change probably has to be applied to both (I'm not familiar with the build system for the community repo). -- Tom Alexander
