Works fine here, on both i686 and x86_64.

To me using an AUR helper to install the deps automattically is

yaourt tells you every dependency it needs to install and stops at every
single package, letting you view/edit each PKGBUILD and install script, so
it is pretty far from blind. I wouldn't use it otherwise.

I have not used any other helper (only bauerbill, which no longer works) so
I can not speak of them.

Nice to get your suggestions. I'd better try git, since many recommend. As
for svn, just svnadmin create a repository does work?
PS: Sorry for my stupidity. I'm new to mailing list, and don't know how to
 reply a certain post.

$ svnadmin create $HOME/repo
$ svn co file://$HOME/repo checkout

Git is very powerful, but not the easier one to use. I'd suggest darcs
or mercurial better.

chromium 5 suppport h264 and 6 (if you want to go there) supports
webm... I've read KDE 4.5 is supposed to have webkit support in
konqueror so maybe that will work too.

Why do I need yet another GTK browser when I am already tolerating firefox ?
 :)

I also have kde-webkitpart installed so my konqueror and rekonq are at same
level of webkit support, i.e. what is supported by Qt4.6. So that path is not
 a gain for now.

You have to enable html5 by clicking the apropriate link in
http://www.youtube.com/html5. I can see (some) Youtube videos in
Chromium that way (Damjan is right, it is not available for all
videos).

What if we're elitist and don't want newbies like you switching to Linux

Yes, MLs, forums and whatnot. When I need to search for any Linux
thing I usually google whatever -ubuntu to filter out crap.

Users of vim/gvim should take note! The recently released update of vim/gvim
(7.2.411) introduces a few important changes. * We have moved vim/gvim to a
single PKGBUILD following the splitpkg format. * If you have gvim installed,
 the
update will inform you that vim conflicts with gvim. This is the expected
behavior. Installation of vim and gvim separately is no longer required, the
gvim package now installs vim as well. * Installation of either vim or gvim
 will
pull in a new dependency, vim-runtime. The files included in vim-runtime were
pre-existing in both the gvim and vim packages. This update allows a cleaner
update path for future vim/gvim updates. Enjoy!

AFAICS the vim package does not include ruby support, but as said in
this [1] forum thread, vim now supports ruby 1.9. Is there something I
am missing or could ruby be enabled again?

Re: [arch-general] Latest updates messed up kdemod3 libjpeg.so.62?

2009-07-28 Thread José M . Prieto
2009/7/28 David C. Rankin drankina...@suddenlinkmail.com:

Up until this past week kdemod3 and kde4-unstable had lived
side-by-side quite harmoniously. However, now kcontol in kdemod3 will not run
until the following link is created:

 ln -s /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.7 /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62

I also use kdemod-legacy on one computer. As the symlink doesn't work
I simply untarred ibjpeg.so.62 from the old libjpeg pakage.

Is there a way to get the abs build files for kde 3.5.9?

Is the svn repos tagged at 3.5.9 ?

 If so how?

I would like to build them for a new computer of mine that has an old graphocs
 card and cpu.

You can also just use kdemod-legacy. I do and it works fine. See
