you could use "dd" to burn iso images, in command line.

or if u need a simple easy-to-use gui, u can go for balena Etcher

[arch-general] adding Polybar to offical Repos

2020-07-22 Thread Ram Kumar via arch-general
Dear all,
i am using i3 wm with Polybar as my status bar. i created the currently
installed packages list using pacman's hook command.
when i try to do fresh installation, i can get only the packages that are
present in official Repos that doesnot include Polybar.
Then after installing Yay i can get Polybar from AUR. it is quite
inconvenience, and i dont know why Polybar is not added to official
packages,

Polybar is quite popular as well as it has quite good features.

is is possible to include Polybar to the official packages under extra or
community? if not could u plz explain?

Thanks in advance

[arch-general] Graceful shutdown Arch Linux

2020-05-07 Thread Ram Kumar via arch-general
Dear Arch users,
I am Ramkumar from India, i use Archlinux with i3 and no login manager.
When i try to shutdown the machine, it throws lot of warnings about
ethernet port and etc..
and when turning on the machine and open an application, say firefox, it
shows like it has been crashed as if it was a forceful shutdown. But i
checked it whether firefox is closed before shutting down and it was
closed.
I am worried whether i am doing some nasty things while shutting the
machine down.
Could you please help me with some graceful shutdown options for Arch linux?

Thanks in advance

[arch-general] Dual boot Arch with Windows 10

Hello Archers,
I am planning to install Arch on a dual boot with windows 10. But i have
read online that on a dual boot with windows 10, the bootloader will
disappear after a windows update and can be cured only by using a live usb.
They say that it is for general linux dual boot and not specific to our
Arch. Before trying for myself, i would like to know whether anyone here
have faced it before, if so, what is the better solution to it?.

I need windows too because of ansys package that i use.. could you please
help me with this?

Thanks in advance

[arch-general] Arch on NVMe ssd

2019-05-22 Thread Ram Kumar via arch-general
Hello fellow Archers,
I bought a new laptop that has NVMe ssd on it. I would like to install Arch
on that, is there any precautions that i need to take? Also i would like to
get feedback from Archers who already tried this.

Thanks in advance
