Many thanks, Christian You can set the initial keyboard layout in gdm (at the bottom of the screen), or (if you're already logged in), using System ââ â Preferences ââ â Keyboard. But that is not saved when I log out and restart the machine if I set it in system preferences. http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg.conf Setting Keyboard Layout With Hot-Plugging --- Section InputClass Identifier Keyboard Defaults MatchIsKeyboard yes Option XkbLayout de Option XkbVariant nodeadkeys EndSection that's working for me. Cheers, Ulf Where to find the name for the Swedish keyboard layout?

Hi, Correct me if I'm wrong but that should be something like the names of these files /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/se-fi-ir209.map.gz /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/se-lat6.map.gz /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/se-fi-lat6.map.gz /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty/se-ir209.map.gz Maybe se-fi-ir209, se-lat6, se-fi-lat6 or se-ir209? -- Guillaume
