RE: [ARIE-L] Multifunction machines

2008-10-29 Thread ED NORDINE
Alexia,

We have several Ricoh Aficio multifunction units here in our library. I
hadn't thought of using one to do our Ariel scanning. I'd be interested
in hearing about your workflow. Do you use the Globalscan interface or
different software?

JoElla,

Here at Providence Hospital we use a RICOH Aficio 3025, which is a
copier, networkable printer, scanner and fax machine and I like it very
much. It works well with Ariel (in as much as Ariel plays nice with
any scanner) and is very fast.

Is there anyone out there using a multifunction machine?

One that photocopies, scans and faxes and does these functions
relatively fast.

Hoefully we will be getting another machine in the future and we need it
to do all these things..

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

2008-10-28 Thread Mary Lehane
We have the Canon imageRUNNER 3245 which functions much like the Bizhub
described below, using Ecopy. It took a while for Canon to obtain the
appropriate Ecopy licence (from Europe or perhaps it was Japan) to go
with our particular equipment model (two months), so if you go this
route, make sure that the supplier can deliver the Ecopy licence within
a reasonable time frame.

Yes! We just go a Kinoca Minolta Bizhub c253 about two months ago. We love
it! It does copying, printing scanning and faxing, and in color. We got rid
of our printer, fax and scanner and no longer need to use the old
black/white staff copy machine.

We also got this separate software system attached to the Bizhub called
Ecopy. We have a little monitor and key board at the machine for our student
to use and most time we have eliminated copying from the original. We can
scan directly into our PDF folder for email attachments or delivering to the
web (our patrons) as well as scanning into our Ariel 4.1.1, via an Ariel
folder. Once the Ariel PDF file is created in the folder (which is also on
our Ariel work station) we drag it over into Ariel for sending.

My staff and I, along with 7 other library staff also have the Ecopy
software on our desktop and files can be manipulated any which way and send
to the Bizhub remotely.
