Re: [arr] When is it Rang Rang Rang in Dubai?

2006-01-15 Thread Anand Bharathan

  Hi Vinay,

If you have not got it already, try Al Mansoor Video in
Karama (04-3374585). I got mine from there about a week back. You can also try
Diamond Audiovision in Bur Juman (04-3532409) centre where I had checked about
10 days back and they had it though the guy said it is moving fast ( I was not
sure if he really meant it). If you had checked in the above shops in the past
few days and they don't have it means they have sold out their shipments which
is good news (sorry not necessarily for you). If you are desperate, contact me
and I will lend mine for a week or so till you get your copy. My speakers are
pleading for a break from RDB.

And to Ganesh, if you are reading this, my advice is not to
waste your time enquiring in UAE about "Water". If they are so poorly informed
as to audio release dates for mainstream films like RDB so one can imagine the
plight for the audio of Water. I ordered mine through Amazon and though it is
expensive it is worth every cent.

Over the past 10 days, I have successfully shut the mouths
of some of my friends who calls ARR repetitive and non-versatile. All I did
was I invited them over and played both RDB and Water and they have not opened
their mouths since.Long Live ARR and his music.

  Regards

Can anyone from Dubai tell me if this CD is available and where?

2006-01-15 Thread pleasant pleasance

Kary!i extremely agree with u yaar. We should not compare on the ocean of music, the Whale is a Whale and a fish is a fish. But then i feel Pudhu_pettai is really good. It really has soul in it. ARR,our boss is not a competitor, he lets hissoul to speak about it thru his composition. ...And he is matured to accept what is good music and what is bad? I don't think he complains about others MUSIC at all, He admires good music. Whereas his fans in disguise create stories like NO MUSIC IS BETTER THAN ARRs. That is an immaturity of a FAN of ARR.For ur info kary, Vidyasagar is also doing good in delivering atleast 1or 3 songs in his albums. HARRIS YSR, i wud rate them as second to ARR, but then 2nd is a mere number in the pool of Music directors who give pleasant music for our ears/soul.
And the other one in ANDHRA pradesh does good music as well, his name is Mani sharma.Guys! do accept a good music is really a good music, otherwise u r not a good fan of a good musician. Not diverting from my topic i also have taken interest in listening to other composers music like Harris and YSR...though Harris is good i find YSR is better...listening to some of his albums like Kadhal Kondein,7g,Arindhum,Kanda Naal Mudhal and now Pudhupettai...well with
this score i really feel that YSR has evolved as a composer and like ARR he has started to understand the subject of the film much better... maybe due to the rapport with the director Selvaraghavan..this film is about chennai underworld and i was quite amazed with the musical score since all the songs give a kind of a dark feel which is very much apt to the subject..like ARR(who did it for Bose) again he has also collaborated with a Bangkok orchestra in this film which shows YSR is also not afraid to experiment and wants to go international as well... Plz do not discriminate me as a YSR fan..believe me i am an ardent ARR fan from the core of my heart and will always remain that way... i hv just put forward some facts which might make us think that ARR has got some quality rivalry from YSR which is definitely healthy and more so as YSR
is also favourite of ARR... What do you guys feel? Will YSR be the next ARR of India if he also takes up Hindi projects?Just put forward your thoughts on this subject.. [arr] Re: My meeting with ARR - Formal Writeup

2006-01-15 Thread sriharsha24
That was a moving write-up. I felt the same way when I met him in 2004
at JFK airport in NY. I was speechless when I saw him. I even asked
the security people near the port of entry if I can take some
pictures. Obviously, they turned down and saw me with suspicion.

The funny part was ARR assumed that I know tamil and started speaking
in Tamil for abt. 2 min. I didn't stop him as I was already in cloud
nine and my head and stomach started spinning. It was for the first
time I landed in US for doing MS and that was an unforgettable
encounter with him.

But your write-up is more expressive than I could. I always had 2
ambitions in my life. One to meet ARR and other is Sachin Tendulkar.
I'm glad that one of them has come true.

Cheers!

Re: [arr] Roop Suhana Lagta Hai is an ARR song right?

2006-01-15 Thread Chiranjeevi Rathnaala

The song is by ARR only, originally made for the Tamil version (Ottagatha Kattiko.. from the movie 'Gentleman'). But, Anu Malik did the music for it in Hindi. Apart from using most of ARR's songs, he made a couple of new songs for the movie. Thats why u find his names in the credits. But there is something which most of the ppl here in this group dont know. The first few lines of this song are lifted from a song sung by Malgudi Shubha in the Telugu Pop album titled, Chik Puk Chik Bum, with music by popular Telugu music-director duo, Raj-Koti. ARR had apparently worked as a key-board player for this album. Obviously, ARR made a song much better than its original with a lot of improvisations. But the pallavi of the song is surely lifted from the Telugu number.tanyaagha [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: is it? cuz on smashits.com it says the songs are composed by anu malik.

[arr] Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

2006-01-15 Thread Krishnakanth

Now, I would love to say that I watched the movie “Amadeus”, and I think it is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen (related to Music). It has nothing to do with animation and magic, but its life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, truly rhythmic. Ah, What a man. Well, geniuses are born in this world but the depiction of original classical music is fading and the contemporary music is becoming so heavy. Mozart’s life history is truly touching. Everyone should watch this fantastic movie. It’s a very special movie for music lovers. Now, if I am correct, A R Rahman sir might be composing for the nest movie based on the life of Mozart. What I feel is, who ever composes music for Mozart movies, they have to use the tunes of Mozart but then the interesting thing is which tunes would A R Rahman sir pick ? It's tricky this time coz in the movie "Amadeus", they have already used all the popular tunes of Mozart at each stage of his life.
BTW..when ever I see Mozart, I just assume A R Rahman sir conducting an opera..its just fabulous. Hope, someday in the history I watch LIVE performace of A R Rahman sir conduncting an opera.Have a Good Day Regards, Krishna But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep, and miles to go before I sleep- Robert
 Frost

Re: [arr] My meeting with ARR - Formal Writeup

Hi Ajit,That was a brilliant narration. And dont worry about it being long... I was actually worried that it got over. This is a write-up which scores of his fans would relate to. It kind of reminded me of my own meeting with the Legend, about which I posted in the group a couple of weeks ago. The extent of his humble, simple n down-to-earth nature has to be seen to believed. When he mentioned to us, during our meeting, that former Australian Captain, Steve Waugh had come to his concert in Australia, he actually didnt know whom he was talking abt. He jus said, "Australia... captain (gesturing a cap!) had come". He didnt even know if he was still playing or no. Like you, I m equally amazed about the fact that the great man had to make so many sacrifices and he still continues to do so! More than anything, I am amazed at the way he is able to to capture the imagination of youth with songs like 'Mustafa' or even the latest one
'Paatshala' (RDB), without experiencing any of those moments in his life.I m extremely happy for u. Hello fellow ARR Fans,

Back on Nov 25th, my dream came true when I met and spent some time
with ARR. I wrote about it briefly to you all shortly afterwards
informally. However, I have written a formal writeup on my
  experience
with him that night as well as my own deep feelings about him. My
family has encouraged me to submit this writeup to some local Indian
newspapers here in the US, such as India Abroad. I may do this,
  but I
would like your feedback first. There is some intimate information
about ARR's life which I learned, which I am not sure if some of you
already know about. Please forgive the lengthy nature of this
  writeup
and I'm sorry to take so much bandwidth. The point of this writeup
  is
not only to express my deep feelings about ARR, but to also
  hopefully
someday educate the public about him and his music. In fact, many
  of
my close friends were pleasantly surprised to know about some facts
  of
ARR that they didn't know before and regarded him with more respect
after reading my writeup. But, I am humble about it and I want to
share this with you. Thanks for reading.

   A.R. Rahman.

Yes, we've all heard of him and most of us have heard his music.
   He's been
called The Mozart of Madras. He's the long wavy haired Tamilian
  music
director genius from Chennai who is associated with movie
  soundtracks
   like
Taal, Rangeela, Lagaan, Iruvar, Thiruda Thiruda, Dil Se, Roja
   Yup, you
know him.the shy and quiet one. Yes, he is the one who
  prefers to
compose music at night, requiring singers and other artists to
  adjust
   their
routines to accomodate his recording schedule, and the one who is
   notorious
for taking his own time composing, much to the impatience of
  the film
wallahs of Mumbai and Chennai. He is the most expensive music
  director.
He has been labeled repetitive by his critics, focusing too much on
   rhythm
and fusion. Some accuse him of tainting the traditional North
  Indian
style of film music with his brand of fusion experimentation,
  imbuing
Western and South Indian musical blends. Oh, and let's not forget
  the
   other
outdated and absurd criticism of Woh synthesizer aur
  computer se
   gaane
   karte hain na?

What else is known about A.R. Rahman?

He has been awarded with the Padmashree, one of the most
  distinguished
awards the Indian government gives to deserving and outstanding
  citizens.
Winning countless number of filmfare, national, technical, and
  other
regional awards and accolades, he has been showered with praise by
  Lata
Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Amitabh Bacchan,
   President
Abdul Kalam (for whose poem he has composed music) and many other
  top
artists and performers. He has single handedly revolutionized the
   face of
Indian film music from the 1990s to today, begining with his debut
soundtrack for Roja in 1992 (first in Tamil). He somehow was
  able to
bring the top most classical and film artists of the country with
  all
   their
egos and generate a beautiful patriotic album consisting of
  various vocal
and instrumental renditions of the Indian National AnthemJana
  Gana
Mana in the year 2000. Oh yes, his patriotism...remember his
   very own
creation celebrating India's 50th year of independence in 1997
  with the
album Vande Mataram? He is the number one selling artist in
  India,
commercially selling more than Britney Spears and Madonna
  combined. His
music has been recognized internationally, gathering the attention
  and
applause of Andrew Loyd Webber who is known for directing many
  famous
Western musicals. Their showbiz marriage gave birth to Bombay
   Dreams, an
amalgamation of his own Hindi film songs and original Western
  musical
   pieces
which showcased in London and Broadway. He has collaborated with

[arr] My writeup should go no further than this group

2006-01-15 Thread Ajit
I have been informed from one of ARR's close associates that ARR will
not like it if my writeup is published in a magazine or newspaper, and
hence, this will be as far as it goes. Thanks for everyone's
feedback. If ARR reads my writeup in this group and feels that I have
revealed too much, I apologize profusely and meant only good intentions.

Thanks.

Ajit
