Re: [arr] Rahman-Goutam Menon

2007-02-19 Thread mathew scaria
Why you guys are becomming very very skeptic.

Rahman is a big palyer and he had a big canvasss to
potray.

HJ is shaping up really well , let the music
wins.

There is no point in going back and creating a thread
on GAUTAM-ARR COMBO, why do you all feel like ARR
needs gautam to prove his abilities.

Just a movie like GURU is enough to prove who is the
winner.

I still reacll a thread created in the group by saying
no credits were given by Mani Ratnam to ARR in GURU.

Now see thr ads comming up in channels.

See it "THE FIRST MUSICAL BLOCK BUSTER OF THE YEAR
2007"

Why i am saying a these is to make all assure that the
pie our ARR is having cant be replaced by any .

Dont loose your confidence in him.

I always believed in him and i know its worth to
believe in him.

Please cross your fingers crossed for the release of
"Pray for me brother". He may visit Muisc World on
March 2nd.

Will confirm the news soon.

The mission of the song, created by ARR, is not to show show himself,
but to inspire people to look into the the dull side of the world and
eradicate the poverty and sadness.
The video is well made!

The video well in my point of view had something special to tell us,
they had shown RED color, from few parts, well what it looked like to
me is "Stop(red) whatever ur doing and look at the poverty in the
other side"

Hey its my opinion :)

Re: [arr] Re: RAHMANIA Pune - comment about Bombay theme !!!!

2007-02-19 Thread amit goel

Dear Dinesh,

I loved your candour and determination, and by all means. BOMBAY THEME is a
landmark in music, the sounds clearly visualise hope emerging from the
debris of detruction and savagery;as such it has an emotional appeal far
beyond the ordinary...

What i meant was that audiences who do not understand the THEME may think
that its a break from continuity... but if that is not so, i'd love to be
proved wrong. And if you can educate the audiences simultaneously, that
itself is great service to the Man and his Music.

Can i make a humble suggestion ? Can the THEME be positioned just ahead of
the Patriotic segment ?

Also, could you please consider adding a snatch from MEENAXI... it has some
wonderul backgrounds, like the Potters and the Bicycle music.. And it is
quite a statement from Rahman Saab and in is own inimitable
style, it also is his personal tribute to another living legend, MF Hussain.

Keep it us, i am waiting for the day when some of the group will tour and
play alongwith Rahman Saab ... And i do think that day cannot be far in the
future

Best of Everything !

  Dear Amit Goel

THANK YOU for your encouraging words about recent performance of The
Wandering Souls. This pat-on-the-back, will help the group to continue
on their mission to take RAHMAN's music and message to the like-minded
persons.

Also noted your suggestion on "not playing Bombay Theme". However,
personally I will differ with your views on BOMBAY THEME. I find this
theme is the healing sound which may emanate from the churning of the
horrors of fights over various divides. This group has played Bombay
theme everytime they performed on stage and each time the members from
audiance have come forward and informed us the emotional effect this
theme had on them and the changes they felt the theme brought within
them.

For me, Bombay Theme is the very core of RAHMAN's music. Emotional, and
touching as you rightly said

I personally do not want the group to stop playing the Bombay theme
unless we find staring at dead end on the instrumentation or live
artist front. The group has MASTERED the theme very well and is one of
the highlights of the programme. Nevertheless, the decision is
entirely of TWS group and your suggestion will be passed on to the
group chiefs.

[arr] Pray For Me Brother Video in Zee Music!!!

2007-02-19 Thread merson_ez
Awesome... I have no words to express my feelings after seeing the
video. It's outstanding, Marvelous…..

It's been showing in Zee Music (I think it's exclusive, as i have not
seen in V or Mtv). You have to see the Program "EK KE BAAD EK". It's
the second or third song. It repeats daily. Its been released by
universal music.

Video is in Black and White, picturised in some foreign location (I
think its Britain). The theme of the video is love. Two couple starts
of in a car, they have fight between them. While they are traveling
they see in the Billboards photos of the poor people, children, people
who suffer. Ultimately they reach where Rahman would be in the middle
of the road singing the lines
Are you searchin'
For a reason to be kind,
to be kind... .
Love is expressed by them, the end.
Rahman has improved tremendously from the Vandemataram shots. He is
Superb (but he has very less shots, no blaaze here instead one hip hop
guy with some cool steps sings the rap). Even though Rahman has few
shots those are amazing.

Final Verdict: I think there should have been more shots of Rahman. No
problem. Who ever has directed it (I think its Bharatbala) deserves
some credit.

Steven Pimlott, the director of Bombay Dreams, the first musical of its kind to
open on
London's West End and then on New York's Broadway, died last week at his home
in Essex,
England.

Pimlott, a burly man with an infectious laughter, died of lung cancer at age
53, his agent
Harriet Cruickshank told the media. Pimlott had never smoked in his life. The
cancer had gone
into remission for a year but returned a few weeks ago.

Pimlott was expected to direct the new version of Bombay Dreams to be produced
by Andrew Lloyd
Webber who had shown an interest in signing Bollywood actress and recent winner
of Celebrity
Big Brother reality series, Shilpa Shetty.

The first version of Bombay Dreams based on Mira Sayal's book became a smash
hit in London,
bringing rave reviews for its composer A R Rahman, with one critic proclaiming
that the Indian
had 'smashed the monopoly' of American composers on the London stage.

A shocked Lloyd-Webber told the British media that he was 'devastated' by
Pimlott's death. The
producer had been in talks with Pimlott just a few days ago for directing one
or two shows,
apart from Bombay Dreams.

A still from Bombay DreamsJust last month, Pimlott was named Order of the
British Empire (OBE)
for his contribution to theatre, by Queen Elizabeth II. He had directed many
Shakespearean
plays for the Royal Shakespeare Company in London as well as the popular
musical, Joseph and
the Amazing Technicolor Dreamboat for Lloyd Webber. The popularity of the pop
biblical musical
in London and New York prompted Lloyd-Webber to sign Pimlott for Bombay Dreams.

Though there was apprehension from various quarters of the Bombay Dreams'
reception in London
and New York, Pimlott was not worried.

He had told rediff.com in New York after the show ran for 10 months that
watching many
Bollywood films had prepared him the show. "I had a wonderful team to help me
along. I had felt
by the time I stared working on it I was part of Bollywood," the deceased
director was quoted
as saying.

Having seen many Bollywood films, he said he had concluded that the writers and
directors in
India "had a firm sense of morality."

"The good people were often rewarded in the end, and the bad punished," he had
said. "That is
something missing in today's films in the West."

"Theatre has always celebrated stories set abroad," he had said. "Look at King
and I (set in
Thailand), Cabaret (Germany) and Fiddler on the Roof (Russia). Now it is the
turn of Bombay.
And then this musical is not about anything strange. It is still a show about
idealism, young
and innocent people, the lure of big city, and the courage of ordinary people.
Now, who would
not be moved by it?"

His unique way of working -- the way he cared for the production and deferred
to suggestions --
had garnered admiration from Rahman to choreographer Farah Khan.

For instance, the London version had the Bollywood-aspiration Akash dreamily
addressing the
audience that one day he would love to be in the class of artists such as Dilip
Kumar and Meena
Kumari.

Sayal remembered later that there was apprehension that most of the audiences
won't get the
reference, but Pimlott said if the writer thought it was important it would
have to stay.

"They (the viewers) could do some research and find out more about Bollywood
icons," he had
said with a hearty laugh.

Re: [arr] RAHMANIA Concept in Other cities !!! FRIENDS UNITE !!!!!!

2007-02-19 Thread !--Sri Balaji--!
Hi Dinesh,

Even my dream is to do what you said. Basically i am a light music singer and
instrumentalist (Keyboard). Currently I am working at Wipro, Hyderabad.

Basically I am a Tamilian. I too thought long back about incorporating such
things. But i did not know how to take initiatives at that time. I named my
dream troup as "Isai Puyalin Isai Payanam". Hope you can understand this title
of the group named in Tamil.

I am trying for transfer to Chennai. I am praying God to happen it. Right now
i am unable to contribute and co-ordinate with you guys.

I will never give up..We will definitely meet soon and will rock our boss
songs throught India.

  Thanks for your mail.

Dear Friends in Bangalore and Chennai, who have shown interest in

The Wandering souls has, to its credit, a PROVEN and PERFECT format

able to share or discuss with your group and we can start in a small
way. I have not spoken to the TWS chief, ANMOL BHAVE, but I think he
would be enthusiastic about it.

If possible, we can even have a first show in your city if we get the
adequate infrastructure and sponsorship and that can be a SEED to
form similar group there.

Finally I want such RAHMANIA groups to have a GATHERING in some city

Re: [arr] Re: RAHMANIA Pune - comment about Bombay theme !!!!

2007-02-19 Thread Sirish Musician

Hey i would like to say on this. I am totally flattened by the Flutist
Mr.Satyajeet
Kelkar. That was really Amazing that he attempted it So well & it was
emotional too.. Even i want Wandering Souls to Perform the "Bombay Theme "
next time.. No hard Feelings.. Its just My Strong Opinion...

On 2/19/07, Dinesh Vaidya <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote:

Nevertheless, the decision is
entirely of TWS group and your suggestion will be passed on to the
group chiefs.

with correct information like in which scene of the movie which
