But a thousand thanks for the link. I was utterly amazed to see how

2007-12-17 Thread Ranojoy
Just type "The Message" in IMDB. The actors in the movie are major
Hollywood actors (of the time) like Anthony Quinn. The movie is
originally in English, but "Ar-Risalah" is the Arabic name of the
movie, and they kept the title for the Hindi-Urdu version I guess,
meaning "The Prophethood".

[arr] Re: A really bad experience - Please read it.

2007-12-17 Thread jarshad mohammed
The difference between when a portion of ARR's songs sound similar to other
songs is that the portion that sounds similar in AR Rahman's songs is not the
core of the song. The songs would have been just as great without those
portions too. For example: the final beats in Muqala Muqabla. The core is
always Rahman's. This is not the case with other music directors. In their
case, the copied part IS the song!

All perfect praises belong to God alone

Hey,

I forgot to mention in my post that we have added instrumental tracks in
addition to the 5
songs on the audio. Hence we wanted to ensure that the in lay designs do
justice to the film
and the music. We are just figuring out the dates and as soon as we lock on a
new music release
date, I will let you all know, and I promise not to change it again Smile

Re: [arr] Re: AL - RISALAH

2007-12-17 Thread shahul hameed
Pavan, the movie is in english.. It was directed by Moustapha Akkad in
1976.. He is from Hollywood and so the movie cant be in arabic.. you have
seen the arabic dubbed version i suppose..

And the 'Allahu Akbar' that comes at the end is not a song.. those are
verses from the Holy Quran..

Btw, Is Rahman doing the complete background score for the film or just that
one song?

Dude, we've had itwofs discussed many times in this group now.

Those are commercially available loops. Anyone, you and me, can buy
them or program them in a synthesizer and make a song. So, using that
loop isn't a copy. It is the tune that matters and clearly enough,
tune hasn't been copied.

[arr] Addition of JA instrumental tracks make the wait even more worthy

2007-12-17 Thread Chord
I'm really trying to hold back my excitement lest be disappointed, but
the news of instrumental tracks being added is just making my musical
mouth water. This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for with this release!
It's as if my mind was read. It's been a while since we've heard
pure instrumental music in Rahman's soundtrack (maybe since Bose?) I
wonder if these instrumental tracks are instrumental versions of the
songs or independent instumental compositions (ala 1947 Earth Theme).
My fantasy is to hear "Akbar's Theme" and "Jodhaa's Theme"!

[arr] BIG music backs out of JA......replaced by UTV Music??

2007-12-17 Thread Chord
Quite a bit of commotion prior to the music launch..

>From Mumbai Mirror (at naachgaana.com)

"Days after A R Rahman, music director of Jodhaa Akbar, raved about
the music of the film, BIG Music who had acquired the music rights of
the film, has backed out of the project. The film is produced by UTV.
Rahman is reported to have said, "I have tried to keep the music of
Jodhaa Akbar contemporary so that it satisfies both critics and music
lovers."
After BIG music pulled out of the project, UTV is compelled to start
their own music company to bail the film out. When quizzed about the
deal with BIG Music, Siddharth Roy Kapur, COO of UTV Motion Pictures
said, "Yes we were in discussions with BIG Music and a deal had been
finalised. However, UTV and AGPPL (Ashutosh Gowariker Productions
Private Limited.) together decided that we could not get a better
launch for UTV Music than the combination of A R Rahman, Javed
Akhtar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai. We had
been thinking of launching UTV Music and we could not think of a
bigger platform than Jodhaa Akbar to do so."
When contacted, Kulmeet Makkar, head honcho of BIG Music admitted
that they were not going ahead with the music of Jodhaa Akbar. He
said, "UTV had started promoting the music with our label, however,
we are not doing the music now because we needed little more time to
exploit and promote the music, which UTV did not provide. I think now
they are going to do the music themselves."
Jodhaa Akbar is based on the life of Emperor Akbar and his wife
Jodhaa, played by Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai respectively."
