[arr] Tight Security for BOSS's concert

2009-05-02 Thread uday kiran
Kozhikode, Saturday 02 May 2009: The city police have thrown a tight security
blanket for the ‘Jai Ho A.R. Rahman Live in Concert’ event at the Corporation
Stadium on Sunday.
Over 2,000 policemen will be deployed for various purposes, including crowd
control, security, maintaining law and order and traffic management, said Anup
Kuruvilla John, Commissioner of Police, Kozhikode city.
Officers and policemen have been drawn up from the districts of Kasaragod,
Kannur, Wayanad, Malappuram and Palakkad. A battalion of the Malabar Special
Police (MSP) would also be deployed to deal with any untoward incident, he said.
An anti-sabotage team has been put in place to keep a close watch on the crowd.
People will allowed inside only after passing through metal detectors at the
entry points.
Spotlights and closed-circuit televisions will be installed to keep a
surveillance of potential miscreants. An exclusive control room has been
established inside the stadium, the Commissioner said.
Barricades have been erected to separate the clusters inside the stadium.
Policemen will be deployed in the middle of the barricades to prevent audiences
from creating any sort of disturbance.
Glass, plastic bottles, drugs, metal objects, cigarette lighters, matchboxes,
camera and video cameras will not be allowed inside the stadium. The gates will
open at 4.30 p.m. and close at 8 p.m. The show begins at 7 p.m. No re-entry
will be allowed. Persons under the influence of alcohol and drugs will not be
allowed inside the stadium. The police expect a crowd of 40,000.
Traffic will be regulated on the Pavamani Road, Ram Mohan Road and S.K. Temple
Road. Separate parking lots will be set up in connection with the event.
The stage, which has been set up for the show, is one of the largest ever,
built in the State. Light towers and metallic pillars have been installed in
the stadium, according to the organisers of the show.

2009-05-02 Thread Jahanzeb Farooq
oh I did not notice that they nominated Bela Shinde for Man mohana. this is
absolutely wonderful. she deserved it so much. damn that everyone included
Filmfare ignored her. anyways i am really happy that IIFA got it right. though
i am shocked what Monali did in Zara zara which got her a nomination?? this is
ridiculous. and same is Farhan Akhtar's.
anyways i wish Bela victory though it is not difficult as Shreya and Shilpa are
there.

PreviewsSuperstar Rajinikanth's first animated magnum opus Sultan will come out
in July.

Soundarya Rajinikanth, the director and producer of the film and her Ocher
Studios have finally fixed the date for the release of the film.

Originally it was said that Reliance Adlabs 'Big Pictures' would release the
film, but then it was said that Warner Brothers will be part of the project.

But media reports suggest that Soundarya not only wanted to complete the
project, but also distribute it under her own banner. But Ocher studios
Marketing Manager Karthik says that the film is a joint venture of Ocher and
Warner. He has also confirmed that the forthcoming Telugu projects are also a
joint venture.

Oscar award winner A R Rahman has already completed 5 fantastic songs for film,
but still the re-recording works are incomplete.

  Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaya songs online

May 01, 2009

  Vinnai
  Thaandi Varuvaya has created a
lot
of expectations as the film is
being
  directed by ace director Gautham
  Menon. Also, VTV has Silambarasan
pairing up with Trisha and this
  youthful combination has created
a lot of publicity in Kollywood
  especially with the promo stills
that were out when the film was
  announced.

  The film’s shooting is
progressing
at a rapid pace. Like all the
much-hyped
movies, which seem to be the
trend
  these days, VTV’s songs have
found its way to the internet.
The
two songs - En Nenjil and Kanner
  Khadalane – are being widely
  circulated on the internet.
However,
the VTV unit has strongly denied
that the songs are lifted from
their
  film.

[arr] Fans of ARR in NY/NJ :: Get-together :: May 9th

2009-05-02 Thread Niyant
Hi,

I'm planning a get-together on May 9th (next Saturday) of ARR fans in the NY/NJ
area. I hail from Mumbai and have been in NY/NJ for abt two yrs. Swapnil and
some other local Mumbai fans used to meet there regularly and we had great time
at ARR meets. For a few hours we would be talking, listening, watching and
breathing everything-ARR. I got only fonder of ARR through these meets. I've
been a fan since Roja days - after being to these meets I realized I was only
one of the many ARR fan-atics out there.

I thought it would be great to have something similar in the NY/NJ area!!

So, come on over -- if you're a fan from ARR's vintage-music years or have just
discovered his music through some his recent hits. With last year's terrific
music like Jodhaa Akbar, Ghaniji, Slumdog, Elizabeth, etc. - we'll have lot of
material to listen to, discuss, critique, etc. We'll listen to some new/old
music, discuss his new/old work, etc.

If this excites you -- you're most welcome to huddle at my modest apartment
next Saturday.

Contact
email: niyant DOT dalal AT gmail DOT com (preferable)
phone: 646.259.3319
(Email me if you're interested and I'll send you the details)

When
3PM on Saturday, May 9th

Where
At my apartment (mail me for the exact address details)

What to get
Yourself (if you have some ARR concert DVD, rare interviews, etc - it's a bonus)

Cheers,
Niyant

PS: Swapnil ... you can see I'm missing our Mumbai jam sessions :)
