[arr] "NAMASKAR PUNE" says AR ! We say "JAI HO !"

2009-05-08 Thread Dinesh Vaidya
He came. He saw us. but He had already won us over again and again and
again.

I MET RAHMAN TODAY !

One of the BEST day in my life, I got to see my GURUJI, and got a chance to ask
him questions too !

Ah ! What a man ! What a Man ! WHAT A MAN ! So simple, so quiet, so down to
earth ! Every moment I watched him, was a learning experience.

Time 11 PM yesterday - Got a call from a very dear friend . I couldn't sleep
whole night. Just the feeling that tomorrow I will be seeing him for the first
time kept me awake.

Time 10 AM today - The call which was to get the doors opened, did not arrive,
so some more trials and I got call from the chief organiser for Pune event. He
and his support staff gave me blanket cheque to get as many fans as
possible...

Time 1030 to 1530 today - Phone battery ran down 5 times, so many calls made to
all known fans, so many sms-es done... for many, it was a shock of life to know
that Rahman would be visiting city. Whosoever could bunk college / office came
to the venue.

Time 5 PM till 7PM today - MIT college students and other fans had started
arriving since 430 PM. Pune does not believe in crowding the place from
morning, so what was virtually clear space at 430, by 530 the place was
decently full, mostly the students. There was lot of entertainment with all odd
instructions belted out by the organisers and crowd controlling team. There was
a band playing MILITARY MUSIC ! Whose crazy idea was that ? Still Full to
fun !

Time 540PM - Suddenly police started running here and there... A black Mercedes
came at 200kph and out came our GURUJI ! AR RAHMAN, dressed in a black blazer
looked so cool that it was hard to believe that this fellow had done a 15 hours
nonstop flight from US ! From where does he get the energy ?

The crowd goes out of control everybody starts clapping and yelling
flashbulbs go wild.the crowd goes even wilder. He walks towards us as
if he is taking an evening stroll in a park.. no hurry whatsoever.

Rahman goes inside and then after few minutes comes out in an ULTIMATE
Maharashtrian headgear called PHETA ! He looked dashing at the same time CUTE !

The organisers are at it again trying to push the crowd so that Rahman can
reach the flag post and pull the chord to unfurl the JAI HO flag. He does it in
style and then also releases tricolor balloons... I could see a childlike smile
on his face, he thoroughly enjoyed releasing these balloons ! I am sure, if his
children would have been around, he would have cut a few for them and released
the rest..

He takes the mike and begins with "NAMASKAR PUNE !" in Marathi ! It means
"Greetings Pune".typical to his style invites all gathered fans to see him
on 31'st in the Pune Concert and promised that he will ROCK the show. All
in one sentence !

He goes inside..

---

Now I am in a soup... the organises had promised that they will take THE
WANDERING SOULS team inside, but all gone ! No soul in the sight. We resign to
our fate they are not lifting phones... Gopal curious to know if things are
under control and is intrigued to know that I am standing in a queue !

Suddenly a kind soul Mr Moulik appears and yells for me.. "Quick, get inside
you..." I follow the leader, Anmol Bhave, Pinak Agte, Ashutosh Joshi, Pallavi
Paranjape, Siddharth Gokhale ( All Wandering Souls "Rahmania" Team )... The
moment we reach door, a policeman puts out his head from the door and denies
entry to all except me. I am devastated All my group outside and what will
I do inside ? I have never been to a Press Conference...

Luckily inside the Chief of MIT College and my ex-teacher Mr Vishwanath Karad
is about to conclude his welcome speech. After that couple of persons ( didn't
knew the names as I got in late ) spoke for a minute each. Then Deepak Gattani,
the CHIEF of the Event management team gave a small AV presentation of the JAI
HO TOUR.

The film was great ! The shots of the crowd, Rahman's innocent face singing
Jaage hai ( Probably clips from Delhi concert )...Shivmani beating drum for
Azeem-o-Shaan... The inside audience gave a standing ovation to Rahman.

Then it was the tern of Rahman to speak... He stood up, tried to say something
but the inside students were asking for him to sing... he sits back and makes a
small opening speech before the Press reporters start shooting their "purely
vague, unresearched and basic questions" Unfortunately it is not a rule that
"Rahmaniac Press reporter only should be sent".

I raise my hand for chance to ask question... Obviously someone from stage
notices and gestures that the mike be given to me, I do get a chance and am
staring at Rahman... All are quiet and Rahman looks at me.. "YES?" he is
probably saying...

I gather courage.

" Dear Rahman... Welcome to Pune. I am Dinesh Vaidya and am representating
today your Yahoo group fans, and also on behalf of The Wandering Souls"

Trisha is presently busy shooting alongside Simbhu for Gowtham Menon’s flick
Vinnai Thandi Varuvaaya – ‘A different love story. Again.’ The film is produced
by Escape Artist Motion Pictiure and RS Infotainment. Trisha is dam excited
with the project since ace music director A R Rahman has given a chance to sing
the montage song of this flick. But having missed the chance of meeting the
legend after he won the Oscars, Trisha is making sure that she makes the most
of it during the audio launch of the movie. She has requested Gowtham Menon to
arrange her seat next to A R Rahman during the music launch function so that
she can get a chance to spend some memorable time with the Osacr winner.–

Week 05 Part 02

Week 5

Dileep used to take musical instruments to recording studios and rent them out.
Among those instruments was a keyboard, his dad got from Singapore, which
attracted him.  The digital sound produced by it was so fresh. Dileep would
anxiously discuss with friends on why such reproduce that sharp sound couldn’t
be reproduced in recordings here. That was the time when a revolution was
happening in “sound” in the west.

In those days, Bangalore was the place for music shops. Whenever they could
find time, Rahman and his friends went to Bangalore to get their favourite
western songs recorded on cassettes.

That was when 12year old Dileep got interested in digital music and
audiography. Actually, he never had an intention of becoming a composer. His
ambition was to become a good sound engineer.

“For me, in those days, music was just a profession and way to earn money the
family. I was not crazy about music. I was interested only in technology. I
couldn’t remove my eyes from the keyboard. That looked like a magical toy for
me”, says Rahman.

Dileep didn’t just stop with playing the keyboard. He opened it up and
understood how each sound was produced – all on his own. “Do you know who is
India’s prime minister? Go out of music a bit, and learn other things too”,
Guitarist John Anotny once told Rahman with love. And Rahman’s reply for that –
just a smile!

In those days, Dileep considered keyboard as something which brought together
music and modern technology. This magical toy was what took him to incredible
heights!

A musician named Raghavan, used to be someone who could answer any question and
clarify any doubt regarding the keyboard. He was also a hardware engineer. If
Dileep couldn’t sort out any issue with his keyboard, it was Raghavan he would
rush to, late at night, because Raghavan worked only in the nights. (Rahman’s
style of working at nights could have been because of Raghavan’s influence
too!) Rahman was fascinated with a new instrument called the Rhythm box, which
Raghavan had. He was stunned by the fresh new sounds that the Rhythm box
produces.

Apart from Guitar, Dileep was trained in Guitar too. “When I come back home
from school, loud sounds of electric guitar and keyboard could be heard from
our house. Dileep would be playing beautifully. I wouldn’t even change from my
uniform, and would stand there listening to him. He would put headphones on to
my ears and say ‘Listen to it now. It would be even better’. He would play hit
songs like the funky Popcorn and songs from Lakshmikant- Pyarelal’s movie
Hero”, says Raihanah.

The family slowly came out of the deep sorrow of Shekar’s death. As Dileep
gradually became proficient with the keyboard, he was invited to play for the
band named Aristocrat. That was a band started by children. Dileep started to
play for that band, in several programs. Raihanah, too, was there in the band.
Rahman’s keyboard program was a part of school annual day functions and
weddings. “Our mom would quip ‘You can’t earn much in these shows. There would
hardly be anything left, if you consider the expenses’, and we would just smile
it off!”, adds Raihanah.

After that, Dileep got a chance to perform on TV. Many of you could recollect
young Dileep with dense curly hair, playing keyboard on the 80’s hit show
Wonder Balloon on Doordarshan. After that, Dileep joined a band called Roots.
That was the next stage of his musical journey.

His childhood friend from those days, is none other than the drummer who goes
on world tours and rocks the entire world, Sivamani.

Sivamani who is now rocking the stadiums in South Africa, as the official
drummer of Chennai Super Kings IPL team, remembers those beautiful days. “When
we were kids, I and my friends Dileep, John Antony, Jojo and Raja, formed a
band called Roots. We would experiment with anything from western classical to
the music of our land.

Melody is normally referred to as laya, and beats as Taala. Rahman was a master
in both, even from those days. Sorry, he was Dileep then! I’m now renowned
world over only because of the opening that he gave me. I’ve played for many
songs for many famous composers like MS Viswan

  Hi Dinesh,

I am Anil Wadghule. I am going to attend this ceremony. We will meet there.

All Pune fans are cordially invited by the organisers Mr Vinod Subramaniam and
Mr Moulik to attend the flag hosting ceremony and Rahman's speech at MIT
College Kothrud Campus today at 5pm.

To identify the fans, please come with any Rahman banner, poster, Tshirt etc by
around 430pm and we will arrange to get you in.

I have assurance from the organisers that they would welcome as many Rahman
fans as possible today.

On this occasion and considering forthcoming Concert, We wish to call a meeting
of all Rahman fans in Pune. If you are intersted, please send me email through
Yahoo group and we will decide on venue / date / time etc.

best regards

Re: [arr] Translation time !!!! More accurate translation!!

2009-05-08 Thread First Namem.seshasalm Sesu

HAI,

just continuing my conversation with may be my self,

some times i feel "I miss those life-changing lyrics" espcially the combination
of AR Rahman Sahab with Javed Akhtar sabab, the lyrics that would hit you fresh
like the first rain of monsson or would feel bullets in bhagat singh, or the
victory of Lagaan, or dance to oolala la, i emans its my personal likeing to
lyrics of Javed Akhtar as his poetry goes soo depth of heart, yet so has space
to breath and feel the emotions swiming int, ye jo desh hai tera, sawaesh desh
hai tera.

AR rahmans compositions take a very beautiful shapre with a heart stiring
emotions, i could smell Indian soil (i heart longing to come back to india)
sitting here in Dubai every time i hear that song from Sawdesh.
i hope AR Rahman sahab do couple of more work with JA sooner then later..

--- here i would like to say that, other lyricist are good too, the words are
rhyming, the body is moving, beats are grooving, yet my soul does not move, it
watch, hears it...

- all my opinion, one can comment back,

have a nice day

regards,
SESU
