Bappida believes Rahman copied his 25 year old chartbuster Rabba Ho Ho
 to compose Jai Ho.

Funny guy I must say. See the video for yourself.

Re: [arr] End of Aahaa FM's RAHMANIA SHOW

2009-06-02 Thread Adi
I was so disappointed too! Almost shocked I must say!

Some very irritating Malini was hosting some show called 'Music Mantra'
instead of 'Rahmania'! Is this a permanent end to Rahmania or has it been
rescheduled to some other time? Anybody can help provide any info about
this?
Sad to have missed the Pune concert too.

Love,
Adi.

Thanks Aravind for all the shares... It was a wonderful show, when
 Raihanaaji was handling it.

This is the right time for some other Radio Station to take over and start
 something new on AR.

   Hi all,

Aahaa FM suddenly stopped Rahmania show. I tuned in yesterday and was
surprised to find some other show starting off! :(

I still have a few more recordings, of last week, which I will upload
 shortly...

All my existing recordings of Rahmania can be accessed from the usual

Right,

I really find it funny! Looks like he is not blaming! It should be taken in
fun sense!

[arr] Re: A pune-ite's concern

2009-06-02 Thread Ramanand
Partly agree to Dinesh's point about the relative seriousness with which we
ingest our music, and steering clear of the we Punekars are hard to please
clause :-):

I spoke to/read comments of a few such disappointed attendees, one of whom even
described the show as lacklustre. Largely, this seemed because:
* they had never heard some of the Tamil songs (esp. the Sivaji ones) before
* even songs like 'jaage hai.n' were relatively obscure to them
* the screens speakers closest to the standing sections were not the best
* There was a perceptible dip in buzz between songs: perhaps a good emcee was
needed when the stage was being set for the next piece
* Some were there to 'shack their body' (sic) :-)
* Some were there mainly to (re-)listen to their favourite tracks - not really
to observe the millions of small interesting things happening on stage or to
discover more of ARR's repertoire
* Compared to some other concerts, there wasn't much of a stirring up of the
crowd by way of banter (though why one would want this in such a show is
debatable).

Just a case of one's poison being another's nectar, I suppose.

I will try to reply with my perspective of the show and the lack of
 enthusiasm from the audience..

Being resident of Pune for past 25 years, my conclusion is Pune audience is
different than other cities, such as, they do not make much of noise during
any concert, let it be a movie / classical / light orchestra etc. They like
to listen to the songs with all seriousness and appreciate the nuances and
finer details of any music during the show and AFTER the song and the show is
over, they like to clap and show the appreciation. a somewhat disciplined
 behavior.

Even for our RAHMANIA shows by The Wandering Souls, we get cheers, and claps,
but the audience does not get up from seat. It is somewhat the culture of
 this soil.

And for dancing and creating noise, there are Discos

 Enjoy and Jai Ho !

  Hi All,

Hope all our friends who made it to the Pune concert had a good time.
One of my friend who happened to attend the concert was feeling glad
that she was able to make it but she had a small concern that many was
not able to enjoy the show due to melody songs taking priority. Though
they loved it they werent quite happy as josh was missing. She was
disappointed as no tracks were performed from Lagaan, Swades, Rangeela
and I remember she even said RDB was missing. Also she told me that
the guys at the stands remained seated for most of the time which is
quite unusual since many of the songs were slow numbers. I am hereby
taking her concern to the group so that in the next concert the
concerned people should be able to make it a still better show.

  Cheers,
