[arr] Re: Watched Blue yesterday and. (Rehna Tu was meant for the Delhi city??)

I don't think so. I think it is a misconception among fans. Here is what CD
booklet says about it:

"It's a love song. But not a eulogy. It's about relationship and its irony.
About love and accepting your love in entirety. It's a contemporary thought set
on a beautiful melody. A hummable song I think it will resonate with the youth
in particular. It's one of my favorite songs with AR."

http://www.abhishekbachchan.org/gallery/albums/userpics/10003/normal_xdrdelhi600booklet08vo9.jpg

Furthermore from the lyrics also it is clear that it is a love song. "Rehna tu
hai jaise tu, thoda sa dard tu thoda sa sukoon" fits more appropriately to a
person than a city. and similarly I don't think "haath thaam chalna ho to...".
can be directed toward a city but only a human.

> that is why they showed Rishi and Abhishek driving in the streets of delhi
> with long shots of city's landmarks.

Again I don't think so. first I don't see any landmark except one (first 4
seconds) though could not get which is it, Hamayun's tomb? second, note that
only 40 seconds out of 2:10 minutes song is picturized on city streets, the
rest 90 seconds is picturized inside the club, on Abhishek and Rishi. also note
that CD booklet picture also shows Abhishek and Rishi holding hands. this all
could mean that it was actually meant for the relationship of the two.
well who knows. but one thing is true, ROM ruined it mercilessly. and since he
completely failed to convey anything through his picturization, people were
forced to think that it was meant for the city.

[arr] Musical synergy

2009-11-08 Thread Vithur
Musical synergy

He continues to remain shy and lives life on his own terms. A.R. Rahman,
despite international and national accolades, refuses to remain in the media
glare. There is a reason, as Rahman clarifies: “I want my children to stay
out of this. They should grow up normally without the pressure of how well
they should perform because their father is someone. They need to grow up
and write their own destiny.”

Rahman maintains that he would like to retain his privacy and let his work
do all the talking because that is his identity. “My children can write
their own future, they are young and should focus on doing whatever they
want to.” Rahman, who is known to be very close to his mother, often gives
her credit for what he has turned out to be. “She is the spiritual head for
us and my mother has sacrificed a lot. I would say I wouldn’t be who I am
without her.”

While Rahman remains rooted in tradition, he is quick to realise that India
has a storehouse of musical talent, and a synergy between the east and the
west will only help boost this.

  Hi,

It's Palakkad Sriram, not Sriram Parthasarathy...
Apart from the songs you've mentioned, Palakkad Sriram is known for his jathis
(bol)...
Palakkad Sriram is the guy who did the "Jathis"(Bol) in many songs like Raga
Dance (Choreography, not Taal), Minsara Kannaa, Margazhi Thingal etc

In his Vanakkam Thamizhagam interview and also in Rahmania interview, I
remember Palakkad Sriram mentioning that ARR wanted the punjabi style that
Sukhwinder brings in, but was not very happy with the diction. So, Rahman
patched up the bad diction in many parts of the song with Palakkad Sriram's
voice.

The truth is u hear Palakkad Sriram almost throughout the song, but his name
was unfortunately left out on the CD covers!

for the tamil version it was sung by "Sriram parthasarathy" as arr liked his
voice than sukhwinder.

sriram also sang " jillallavaaa" in swasa katrae, final part in "minsaara kanna"
song and "vetri kodi kattu" in padayappa.
but his name did not appeared in for both the songs thaiyya thaiyya and vetri
