[arr] My Review On Chennai Jai Ho Concert
Hi my name is nitin i am from palakkad(kerala).Chenai concert was myht fourth ar arhman concert which i am attending Which i am attending. First was 2003 unity of light concert held at chennain.second one was sharjah concert 2008.third one calicut jai ho concert. if u ask me which one i like most i would say (quality wise) 2003 chennai unity of light concert reasons. 1.There were 24 singers all are seasoned(among 14 singers were national award winner)if i remeber it correctly.i think rahman was not bothered abt the cost of the show and profit making at that time. 2.excellent quality of sound(some songs they played live) 3.excellent arrangment . 4.we got to hear the songs rendered by the original singers (imagine the level of perfomance) second comes calicut concert 2008 jai ho reason 1.only one reason i was able to take pic with ar rahman met some harcore rahmanfans like vithur farhad..etc. what lacks in jai ho ar rahman concerts. writing this based on my experience on calicut chennai sharjah concert) 1.POORE SONG SELECTION (RAHMAN SHOULD INCLUDE SONGS WHICH MADE HIM AR RAHAMAN EXAMPLE MUQALAMUQABLA .OOOH HUMDUM SUNIY ORE) 2.IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CONCERT THE ENERGY LACKS PEOPLE ARE GET DISTRACTED FROM THE CONCERT (THEY PLAY SLOW SONGS THIS TIME PEOPLE WIL START TO LEAVE THE AUDITORIUM AT THIS POINT OF TIME) I DONT MEAN HE SHOULD NOT PERFORM ANY SLOW SONG BUT WHAT I AM TRYING TO SAY THAT THERE SHOULD BE PERFECT BALANCING BETWEEN SLOW AND FAST SONGS. 3.IN MOST OF THE SONGS THE MUSCITIONS ARE MERE SPECTACTORS (ACTING AS IF THEY ARE PLAYING THE INSTRUMENTS)MINUS TRACK IS PLAYING MOST OF THE TIME..I KNOW IN ORDER TO GET THE BEST SOUND AND NEAR TO ORIGINAL KIND OF FEELING THEY HAVE TO PLAY MINUS TRACK..MY SUGGESTION IS THAT THEY CAN START WITHH LIVE PLAYING AT THE BEGINNING AND LATER TRACK CAN BE USED.MOST OF ARTISTS IN RAHMANS TROUPE ARE BEST IN INDUSTRY .ONLY THING THAT THEY HAVE TO SPEND SOME TIME ON REHERSAL TO GET THE SYNCHRONISATION OF INSTRUMENTS. 4.ANCHOR SHOULD BE THERE TO INTRODUCE SONGS.(IN 2003 SUHASININ WAS THERE) THATS ALL FROM WILL WRITE SECOND PART SOON 5.RAHMAN CAN SHARE SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABT THE SONGS LIKE INCIDENTS DURING THE CONCERT 6. 5.

I discovered here on Heroes too but it was for the song Hide Seek on the first ever episode. I also got a glimpse of her work process on TED. Then I saw that she collaborated with Nitin Sawhney on his last album (the song is Bring It Home) as well as bansuri player Ashwin Srinivasan on her own album Ellipse. Yes, Imogen Heap has a good sense of melody and makes huge use of technology both for her music and for communication. In fact, she tweets everyday. But her style doesn't change a lot and it's a tad chaotic... --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, || V i s h w e s h || vishws...@... wrote: Sorry for the lengthy 'non-arr' mail... [arr] 100 drums beat for Rahman
100 drums beat for Rahman - Musician’s team captures Wangala for C’wealth Games OUR CORRESPONDENT A member of A.R. Rahman’s team records the Wangala dance in Tura on Friday. A Telegraph picture Shillong, Nov. 13: Cameras whizzed and spools of tape recorded the sights and sounds of Wangala music in the Garo hills today, setting the stage for Garo music’s debut on the international stage. Wangala, the traditional music and dance form of the Garos, will find a place in the opening ceremony of next year’s Commonwealth Games to be held in Delhi, thanks to music director and Oscar winner A.R. Rahman. Though the famed musician could not visit Tura to record the music and dance himself because of his busy schedule, he sent his team of filmmakers and recordists to capture the dance and the rhythm associated with it. Rahman’s team, led by directors Bharat Bala and Kanika Myer, along with assistant director Kavita Carmeiro and photographer Akshay Uchil, recorded the dance moves and drumbeats associated with Wangala at Asanangre today, the venue of the annual 100 drums festival, around 25km from Tura in West Garo Hills. After visiting Asananggre, the film producers took many shots of the arrival of the Wangala troupes. While the men wearing *dhotis*, half-jackets and turbans with feathers beat the drums and other musical instruments, the women, wearing colourful silk blouses and head-wraps, danced to the rhythm. The Wangala dance is performed every year in November as part of the post-harvest festival of the Garos, marking the end of the agricultural year. Through this dance, people express their gratitude to the god of fertility, Misi-a-Gilpa-Saljong-Galapa. A *nagara *(special drum used for calling the people on solemn occasions) is beaten on the occasion. “We will hand over whatever we have recorded — both sound and dance — to Rahman so that he is able to incorporate it when we plan the live performance of a Garo dance troupe during the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games,” Bala was quoted as saying by a government official over phone from Tura. The official added that a Wangala troupe from Garo hills would be taken to Delhi so that the dancers can perform live during the inaugural ceremony of the Games. Bala and Myer were earlier associated with Rahman in the production of the very successful *Vande Mataram *and other music albums. http://www.telegraphindia.com/1091114/jsp/northeast/story_11740099.jsp -- regards, Vithur

[arr] Rahman wows with hip-hop a salute
Rahman wows with hip-hop a salute OUR BUREAU Rahman at Salt Lake stadium on Saturday. Picture by Aranya Sen Calcutta, Nov. 14: The venue was the same; so was the man. What was different was the music he played. Six years after his debut in India — The Telegraph Unity of Light concert — A.R. Rahman returned to Salt Lake Stadium this evening with hip-hop, funk, jazz and praise for the city that “best appreciates” his music. “In Los Angeles, when somebody asked me ‘which audience appreciates your music the best’, I could only think of you. The same place, six years back… the love that you gave me is unbelievable and it is still fresh in my memory,” Rahman said. “If I have to hug each one of you, it would take me two years but I would still love to do that,” he smiled. Local flavour was not found wanting in the three-hour show, Jai Ho — A.R. Rahman Live in Concert, presented by the Liver Foundation of West Bengal. Javed Ali sang lines from Jodi Tor Daak Shuney Keu Na Aashey which Rahman had used in Shyam Benegal’s Bose: The Forgotten Hero. Usha Uthup, Rahman’s “best singer from this city”, took the stage to sing two duets with the composer — Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and then Mustafa Mustafa. Rahman emerged from under the stage with the anthemic chants of Jaage Hain from Guru on his lips. His concert outfits were sober as always — a white full-sleeve shirt and a black T-shirt. His most glamorous attire was a red sherwani. But there was less restraint. Rahman broke into an impromptu jig on stage. Gone was the shy man behind the keyboard. Moments earlier, Rahman had said: “As I get older, I see other points of view…. Things I wouldn’t have noticed before. If music wakes you up, makes you think, heals you, the music is working. And then, a thought put in action in a positive way is a blessed thought.” Dil Se Re to Rehna Tu, Khalbali, Khwaja Mere Khwaja — Rahman played them all, giving Calcuttans a Saturday night fever to remember.
