[arr] Re: 'That's not the way to sing Vande Mataram'

2010-04-12 Thread Rivjot
Right, its different composition and different lyrics. By the way, there is
Vande Mataram by Usha Utthup as well (in movie Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham, lyrics
by Bankim Chandar Chatterjee) and she also sings like 'Vand Mataram'

100% agree with your last statement - 'The old composers have done some great
work, but they didnt come in outright praise of rahman in public..which is sad!'

[arr] Loudness war destroying the audio quality

2010-04-12 Thread Devan

http://s831.photobucket.com/albums/zz231/deva4abc/?action=view¤t=wave.jpg

Folks make a look on the two waveforms of the song strawberry kanne from
minsarakanavu. First wave form is of the song ripped from original AVM CD.
Second is a prereleased one. The first AVM ripped song is very louder than the
second one. But the waveform is completly clipped through out the length and
having no quality. The second one is having high quality. See how the loudness
war killed the quality of songs in AVM CD.
My request to these music releasing companies is that please dont destroy these
gems of our boss..

[arr] Re: There simply is no comparison

2010-04-12 Thread Rivjot
Very true. With hit after hit soundtrack delievered in last 2 years, Rahman is
definitely at the peak of his career.
Re: Other music directors - SEL have been quite disappointing recently. I think
only Vishal Bhardwaj has been consistent.
I absolutely agree with Saawariya - it is one of my all time non-ARR favorite
soundtrack. It is sad that post Saawariya he hasnt given one single good
soundtrack and didnt live up to my expectations.

Yes, there hasnt been any good (Hindi) album lately, thats why everyone is
craving for Raavan really badly

I had a good respect for Manna Dey.and a good collection of his songs
too. After reading the immature comments about ARR, I hate Manna Dey. Bye ho

[arr] As of today, rank order these ARR sung songs

2010-04-12 Thread AJ
Here I go with my rankings again...:-)

According to me, these are the top 6 AR Rahman sung songs (note I'm basing the
ratings based on the quality of the whole song, not just AR's singing)

Yeh Jo Desh Hai Tera
Vellai Pookal
Vande Mataram
Dil Se Re
Khwaja Mere Khwaja
Rehna Tu

Ok..now, rank em!

Here's mine (only for today...subject to change in time)

1) Rehna Tu
2) Dil Se Re
3) Vande Mataram
4) Khwaja Mere Khwaja
5) Vellai Pookal
6) Yeh Jo Desh Hai Tera

[arr] There simply is no comparison

2010-04-12 Thread AJ
I've been listening to a compilation CD I made for myself of all my favorite
ARR tunes since 2008...the past 2 years. Mindblowing experience to say the
last...Jodha Akbar, Slumdog, Yuvvraaj, Ada, Jaane Tu, Ghajini, Delhi 6, Blue,
Couple's Retreat, VTV, Sakkrakatti.

I also like to tune into other MD's works in India...Vishal B, SEL, VS,
somtimes Amit Trivedi, sometimes Monty Sharma (his Saawariya is still one of my
favorites), sometimes Pritam, rarely Himesh, Anu Malik.

ARR's music is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition...there simply is no
comparison and it's pretty obvious and goes without saying. Actually, apart
from a few albums and songs, like Ishqiya from Vishal B, and other non film
albums from Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shafqat Amanat Ali, Kailash Kher, I have not
at all been too impressed with film music output of late besides ARR's work.
It's quite disappointing.

As an avid and passionate AR fan, I can truly say I love his music the most,
and of course, that's a biased perspective. But, even as an objective music
lover, AR's music towers high above everyone else in so many
categories...sound, arrangements, depth, variety, instrumentation, novelty,
originality, emotional impact, rhythm, etc. etc.

AR has really silenced his critics and only a few mumblings are heard here and
there from a few scattered jealous naysayers about how Jai Ho isn't really that
great, blah blah blah... No more chants of how AR has lost the magic from
the 90s, is repetitive, etc. etc.

Can't wait to see what AR serves up in Raavan

AR Rahman's musical body of work is an institution in and of itself!!!

Why do you keep posting such negative messages in the forum. Media looks for
such news to spread malice and you are just helping them.

After all he is 90+ now and he comes from a different era. So expecting him
to be in sync with our thoughts is wrong. Manna Dey is one of the living
legends in our music scene. Let us respect him rather than abuse him.

Re: [arr] why low volume audio?

2010-04-12 Thread Devan
You are right. I can clearly hear the small noise of audio cassette in roja,
indira and many more. My doubt is that ARR sir create the audio in digital
output even in that days of roja and the music production companies owns the
original in digital format too. Then why such noises occur during reproducing
of audio in CDs later. The worst i felt about volume level is with
minsarakanavu and jeans.Iam forced to increase the volume to hear these albums.
Thiruda thiruda was better compared to other two. Quality is there in all
audios for sure. But the problem is with volume level.
