[arr] Blaaze About Tamil Anthem...
A week before leaving for the Jai Ho World Tour, i was asked to come into studio to record… little did i know at the time, this was going to be the biggest and most remembered song in tamil history… With pure amazing lyrics, and the sounds of an anthem that will remain in people’s hearts, body and soul for generations to come, bringing together 3 generations of singers, and making the perfect composition, when i heard what Mr. AR Rahman had been working on, it was a ‘magical’ moment. Only rahman could have thought of this diverse blend of genres and styles and sounds in One song. To check on my pronounciation of each and every word, the humble Ms. Kanimozhi, was present in the studio, and though i really wanted to take a snap with her, as i do admire her strength and leadership qualities and her service to the people, i just did not have the guts to ask her for a picture … maybe one day soon, godwilling :) We later shot a few portions with Mr Gautham Menon and his team, and also in studio with Mr. Selva. To me, it is a moment in time that will stand the test of time. Someone posted a comment about my involvement in the tamil anthem, on arr fans group about how my portion is ‘different’ in the anthem and not reqd… so i posted this response to the group… Honestly, i feel truly honoured, humbled and blessed to be a part of such an amazing anthem. And amongst the best, to feature my rap bit is such a heartwarming feeling. I finally feel a sense of belonging, and a sense of community… and to me, this is my Oscar! AR Rahman, God Bless… Peace…BlaaZe’ 00 91 99941 88566 rahmanian rajkumar

Enchanting us this time around is Ritu Beri who has designed AR Rahman’s wardrobe for AR Rahman Jai Ho The Journey Home World Tour 2010, which commences on June 11 in New York. “It’s been my most thrilling experience to date,” exclaims Beri, who first met the musical genius when she was signed on to design his outfits for the tour. “Of course, I knew who Rahman was. But after meeting him, I have realised how humble and down-to-earth he is,” gushes Beri. The designer, who had barely a month to get the costumes ready, had to design 34 different looks for Rahman and also his group of artistes, musicians and the dance troupe all of who will be travelling with him. Befitting the grandeur of the sets and the occasion, Beri has designed unique LED costumes for the team. “When I started working on the looks, I realised that Rahman was not the one for flashy colours,” she says. But Beri was clear in her head that she wanted Rahman to sport looks which he hadn’t so far. “This time Rahman has experimented. He has been more fun and more adventurous,” says Beri, who got him into ethnic wear for the song Khwaja Mere Khawaja from the film Jodhaa Akbar. [arr] Re: Volume Track Differences between Beera and the two Veeras
If the difference is accountable by the music mastering between the 2 companies, then I think T-series screwed up Beera big time because the bass, ghungru and clap tracks in Hindi Beera are extremely low in volume, totally drowned out when the singing starts, and should have been more upfront and audible throughout the song, like they are in both Veera versions done by Sony. [arr] Pallo Latke and Kata Kata
Part of the Ila Arun singing portion of Kata Kata is based on a known Rajasthani folk tune, also previously heard in a Hindi film with the song titled Pallo Latke. The other choral parts are purely Rahman's melodies. I think it's cool how Rahman used the original Rajasthani folk tune and blended it in so nicely in Kata Kata. Rahman did something similar in the songs Mercury Pookal and O Paalanhare, using a known melody sung in traditional Bhajans and using it tastefully and delicately in both songs, blending his original tune with the traditional melodic verse.
Re: [arr] Kata Kata and Jodha Akbar
Jimmo Jimmo in Jodha Akbar and the Ila Arun part of Kata Kata both share the base melody of a traditonal Rajasthani folk tune, it's quite subtly done, but the base folk tune and raaga is the same. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, Gomzy gomtesh.upad...@... wrote: The cues are similar. [arr] A.R. RAHMAN AND KATRINA KAIF PUT TOGETHER AN ALBUM FOR KIDS
http://telegraphindia.com/1100528/jsp/entertainment/story_12494735.jsp Rhyme rhythm A.R. RAHMAN AND KATRINA KAIF PUT TOGETHER AN ALBUM FOR KIDS A.R. Rahman and Katrina Kaif at the launch of Rhyme Skool Rhyme Skool, an audio album of nursery rhymes, has brought together the king of music A.R. Rahman and the queen of Bollywood Katrina Kaif. While Rahman’s students have sung for the album, cool Kat has done the voiceover. A t2 email chat with the maestro. What was the idea behind Rhyme Skool? When Saregama approached me, I was very excited, since this is the first commercial project for KM Music Conservatory (KMMC) students. KMMC is my vision to take young Indian talent to an international platform, to provide them with musical learning of international standards. How many of your students have been a part of the album? There are 17 students who have worked on Rhyme Skool vol. 1. Is this the first time you have worked with your students? How special was the experience? Yes, it is the first commercial project with the students and I am very proud of their work. The day of the launch was a memorable day for them and KMMC. Tell us about the making of the album… I wanted to make sure that this was an album of international standards coming from India. I listened to a lot of references to make sure this album was better — listened to the scratch tunes, gave my suggestions on the improvements to be made, and asked the Saregama representatives to play it to little children and see if they liked it. Kidzee was the Academic Partner and had given content appropriate to kids. Kidzee is Asia’s largest pre-school network with over 700 schools all over India. What was the most challenging part of making the album? Most of the rhymes were traditional rhymes and so the music was all covers, already heard. So the challenge was to make it sound different. Each rhyme is set to different kinds of music, from Caribbean reggae to West Coast hip-hop! What was it like working with Katrina? I appreciate the fact that Katrina agreed to be part of the project so that it would get a large reception. What brief did you give her? To be herself. Although references were given to music with another voice, Katrina did it in her own sweet style. Finally, what kind of response have you got for Raavan’s music? Interesting. It’s got positive feedback from almost everyone. One must remember that it’s important to keep the spirit of the film and the director’s vision in mind when you compose and this is exactly what the script demanded. It has an edgy, rhythmic, dark feel to it. Are you searching for a reason, to be kind? b Explore, Experience, Enjoy A.R.Rahman - The Man, The Music, The Magic. raavan and raavanan will certainly have 2 different masters. Specific to this, there are some obvious arrangement level differences, then there is every reason to believe they are mastered with different tastes. Quitly likely. Veeras' claps and bass lines are significantly louder, leading to a fuller sound throughout both versions of the Veera song (Tamil and Telugu), while the bass lines and claps in Beera are very low in volume, subued throughout the song. If you listen to the first minute of Beera, then the first minute of both Veeras, you will be able to tell the difference immediately. I referred to this in my overall review of the soundtrack, but this difference keeps coming up for me, esp. when I put Raavan and Raavanan on the same CD. I wonder why the differences in volumes between these versions. Please don't block this post. I'm not trying to start something about differences between Hindi/Tamil/Telugu, etc., not claiming one to be superior to the other, etc., but just commenting on these specific differences between the versions and wondering why ARR decided on this.
