Re: [arr] After hearing a bit of the first Yuvraaj song.....

2008-10-04 Thread Mukundhan Vijeyaraghavan
I guess its been a long time since logical, unbiased discussions vacated this
space.
Rahman's music in Hindi has been consistent and unlike tamizh, his last few
Hindi albums
have been chartbusters.
Let us wait for the music release and comment about our views after listening
to it.

  My thoughts .
  1) People wishing for Taal II, forget it. No Taal hangover likely
  with this record, and Rahman will never reach the same heights as he
  once did in the late 1990s (it's only normal since every artist has
  their peak and it doesn't mean that Rahman cannot come out with
  brilliant work today, as he has proven many times recently).
  2) Soundtrack will likely be quite commercial oriented with hummable
  melodies, but less of classical, old melody styles that we heard in JA
  and Ada.
  3) The tempo of this song is THE EXACT SAME TEMPO (speed) that you
  hear in the instrumental piece on the website. May not mean anything,
  just an observation. Frankly, I am a bit underwhelmed by this song SO
  FAR, which may just only be my perception and expectations.
  4) I fear less ethnic percussion and more keyboard rhythms in this
  soundtrack (as we just heard).
  5) Expect lots of strings, choirs, piano, and other symphonic
  arrangements (as we have also heard a bit) with less of traditional
  Indian instrumentation as Western classical music appears to be the
  musical backdrop for this film.
  6) Rahman once said that the soundtrack is mellow. Combine that
  with words like peaceful and soulful, you get the idea.
  7) Many will be initially disappointed with the music, as comparisons
  to Taal and Kisna will be abound, but the music will catch on later.
  Look for 1/5 review by Mr. Tootsie Pop of indiafm.

[arr] Re: The singlers list..!

2006-12-06 Thread Mukundhan Vijeyaraghavan
A few corrections to Vivek Tawde's list:

1.Sunita Rao after marriage became Sunita sarathy and she has sung a
lot of songs other than Adiparu Mangatha.

2.Soorjo bhattacharya is the same guy who sang in Thakshak as well as
in Parasuram. I guess he has two more songs to his name in Rahman's
movies. One is Askava from Enakku 20. I don't remember the other song.

3.Pullai thingum from Andhimantharai is sung by Minmini.

4. Srikazhi sivachidambaram sung Anjadhe jeeva in addition to Odakaara
marimuthu.

5. And to ever_sive..Margazhi poovae is sung by Shobha shankar,not
bombay Jayshree.

6. I don't think Anupama sang Signore. You can hear Swarnalatha's
voice in that song. Also Ae enna achu unakku is not anupama's
song..it is Vasundra das'.

7.Kamalhassan has also Sung Injarungo from Thenali.

8. I guess Reena bharadwaj has lent her voice for yaaro yaarodi in
Alaipayudhey(three have sung it).

Vivek,your list is exhaustive and simply amazing.

  There are few corrections and additions to the list
  (Only Tamil and Hindi songs):

  I. Following singers have sung more than one song:

  1. ANUPAMA has sung many songs for ARR like
  kuch bhi na socho and Poovukenna from Bombay;
  Maaro maaro from Boys;
  Chandralekha from Chor Chor;
  Sandhipoma, Kama kama from Enakku 20 Unakku 18;
  Love Theme from Jeans;
  Hello Doctor from Kaadhal Desam Duniya dilwalon
  ki;
  Ye ye ennachu from Kaadhal Virus;
  signore from Kannathil Muthamittal;
  If you wanna from New;
  July madham from Pudhiya Mugam
  Spirit of Rangeela, Aiyaiyoh Kanavaa from
  Rangeela;
  Mercury pookkal from Ratchakan;
  Sundara en sundara from Super Police;
  I wanna be free from Tehzeeb;
  Jaan tum ho meri from Vishwavidhaata

  2. MINMINI
  Saagar se milane ke liye from Humse Hain Muqabla;
  Paarkathe from Gentleman;
  Indiraiyo ival  Kaatru Kudhirayille from
  Kaadhalan;
  Satten aden thattu nenjam (BGM) from Kannathil
  Muthamittal;
  Pachakili from Karuthammaa;
  Killigal Rendu from Manidha Manidha;
  Eduda antha from Pudhiya Manargal;
  Sambo sambo from Pudhiya Mugam;
  Chhoti si asha  Chinna chinna aasai from Roja;
  Chithirai from Vandi Cholai Chinrasu

  3. P. SUSEELA
  Meettu podu from Duet;
  Kannamma from Indian;
  Azhagu from Pudhiya Mugam;

  BTW Poo koodiyan from Iruvar is sung by Sandhya.

  4. RINA BHARDWAJ
  Baba kichu kichu from Baba;
  Main vaari vaari from Mangal Pandey;
  Aaha thamizhamma from Kangalal Kaithu Sai;
  Yeh rishta from Meenaxi

  5. ABHIJEET (Not Abhishek!!!)
  (I simply hate this guy after reading whatever he
  said in the Filmfare magazine last year about ARR...)
  Ae naazneen suno na from Dil Hi Dil Me;
  Chidiya tu hoti to from Nayak;
  Teri meri baat from Sapney

  II. I am not sure whether Bhattacharya (one who sang
  Jack n Jill) and Surjo Bhattacharya (one who sang
  Dhim da dare from Thakshak) is the same person or
  not. If both are same then he has sung couple of
  songs. But I guess both are same person.

  III. Kumar Sanu has sung only one song for ARR and
  that is Mil gayi from Kabhi Na Kabhi. Hindi version
  of Mel isaiaye from Mr. Romeo is sung by SPB.

  IV. Naramugaye from Iruvar is sung by Bombay
  Jayashree only and it's her only song for ARR. It's
  not by Nithyashree.

  V. I guess Sunidhi Chauhan has sung two songs for ARR.
  one is Saiyyaan from Nayak and other one is Tham
  gaya toofan from One Two Ka Four. Experts please
  clarify.

  So as far as my knowledge of ARR's songs is concerned,
  list can be modified as:

  Alisha Chinai (Jumbalika - Thakshak)
  Apache Indian (No problem - Love Birds - Both Hindi
  and Tamil)
  Arjun (Chittukuruvi - Parasuram)
  Arvind Swamy (Udal mannukku Unnodu naan -
  Iruvar)
  Ashutosh Gowariker (Pal pal hain bhaari - Swades)
  Baba Sehgal (Rukmini - Roja - Hindi)
  Babul Supriyo (Taram pam -

[arr] Ah aah title song

2005-08-16 Thread Mukundhan Vijeyaraghavan
Hi guys,

I happened to watch the title song of Ah aah. Well,the picturisation
of the song has spoiled all the hardwork Rahman had put into the
making of that song. Its awful!

[arr] Ah aah!

2005-07-28 Thread Mukundhan Vijeyaraghavan
Hi ppl,

ARR has come back strongly with yet another masterpiece in Ah aah.
Especially,the Anbe aaruyirae song,which he has sung himself,is
undoubtedly the best of the lot.

Though Madhushree has a very good voice,her tamil songs dont make
goodlistening. Her tamil pronunciation needs improvement. Same was the
case with her ding dong kovilmani in Ji. ARR shouldn't let her get
away with this. Naresh Iyer has a beautiful voice indeed.
