This track (Marhaba Ya Mustafa) is from the film Al Risalah. ARR has
done only one song for this soundtrack.

[arr] Re: My take on MAYYA MAYYA alone

2006-11-18 Thread dkraks2002
Nice take on Mayya Mayya.

The male singer has not been credited. Looking at the photos in the
CD inlay cards, the "Bani re Bani.." bit seems to be an attempt from
Abhishek or his friends to sing along. Notice the distinctly
Gujarati "He ji re..."

[arr] Re: Guru impressions and my honest thoughts on Rahman

2006-11-18 Thread dkraks2002
No offence Ajit. But I disagree on "Baazi Laga". The first reaction
of people is that it's an ordinary song; may be, because of the old
world orchestartion. I found it very good (even by ARR-MR
standards). I love the part "Baari ayi ayi ayi ayi."

I found Guru soundtrack more true to the film's context. Guru is a
welcome addition to the series of great soundtracks ARR-MR combo has
delivered. And any comparsion with Dil Se or Iruvar is not fair.
IMO, no two ARR-MR soundtracks are similar, even remotely.

Bandit Queen is not available at least in Hyderabad.

May be some of the tracks will be available in other albums.

If I am not mistaken, tracks like "Ankhiaan nu chain na aaye.." were
part of other albums.

This line from Dil Se Re.. just keeps echoing in my head.

"Dil to aakhir dil hai na. Meethi si mushkil hai na.."

The first song that comes to my mind is "Kismat se tum hamko mile

This song blows me away everytime I listen to it.

2005-12-09 Thread dkraks2002
My Mini Wishlist:

1). I like Silk Route very much, so I secretly hoped Silk Route will
collaborate with ARR some day.

 - This wish comes true in a way, with Mohit 'Silk Route' Chauhan

Other wishes

2). Rabbi Shergill sings for ARR

3). ARR composes music for a Vishal Bhardwaaj film.

Lets see if 2 and 3 come true.

[arr] RDB Audio in Hyderabad

2005-12-08 Thread dkraks2002
I almost got the RDB cassette at Planet M Punjagutta, but one of the
persons working there said, "We cannot sell it before tomorrow, 11
am." I tried convincing him, but he was adamant.

So anyone with contacts with Planet M guys, could have RDB today, as
the shipment (CDs also) has definitely arrived.

I guess, rest of us ordinary souls, will wait till 11 am tomorrow.

[arr] Re: Rang de basanti video trailor uploaded

Exactly my thoughts.

The two tracks have more than faint resemblance.

First impression on RDB trailer:

The track sounds really catchy.

The visuals are great.

I have high expectations from RDB the film as well as the soundtrack.

[arr] Iruvar - Best Mani+ARR Film

2005-11-15 Thread dkraks2002
I had the privilage of watching Iruvar yesterday.

Iruvar is 'hands down' the best Maniratnam film for which ARR has
given music.

Mohan Lal & Prakash Raj have won accolades (deservedly) for their
performance, but I was particularly impressed by Aishwarya & Nasser
(perhaps I was not expecting much from them).

[arr] Abbas Tyrewala's Debut/Period Films/Rising

2005-07-19 Thread dkraks2002

For now no more period films for ARR. I am sure many of ARR fans had
this feeling that he doing too many period films. Nothing wrong with
that. But from a pure commercial point of view, at least one
contemporary album per year is very important

and off late I also wondered, how approachable is ARR to a bright new
director (a Maniratnam or RGV in making).
So on this account the news that, ARR is doing Abbas Tyrewala's
Debut, is heartening - I am not saying he will be next MR or RGV -
but he did very good work with Maqbool (screenplay) and Main Hoon Naa
and Munnabhai MBBS (Dialogue). Writing and Direction are two
different ball games, lets hope for the best.

Three magical moments of Rising:

1). In Mangal Mangal (aatma), when Kailash Kher and Sukhwinder croon
the lines - "Wo nidar hai... wo amar hai..."

2). In Main Wari Wari, when Reena Bharadwaj goes "Naa bechain din
they.. Naa betaab raatein..."

3). In Rasiya, the humming just before "woh kaun sipahiya hai, jo
daiya re daiya hai nindiya udaaye is tarah..."

P.S. Will ARR give "No More Period Films" resolution, an exemption
if 'Mahabharat Trilogy' news is true.
