IR has scored 800 movie. Hold on. MSV has scored for 1500 Movies
(oopps). But at the same time quantity doesn't matter

Absurd...IR did around 56 films in 1984 or 1986..I do not know exactly
buy all thru the three years from 84 to 86 he was doing more than 50
films a year and max being 56 Iguess.. Also, you know what IR did BGM
for every moview..
what guiness record is bappi talking about God..IR in his career
of 32 years has composed for almost 1000 films and non film albums and
BGMs for all the films...
The problem with media and most people in India is that we neglect
south and its champions.. ARR is the only guy who could break the
barrier. I thought atleast now people and media will wake up and take
notice of south and its gems..but...I guess..still there are miles to
go before that happens.
Appologise for bringing in IR here in ARR's forum..But the purpose was
to set the records straight.

Karthik

Despite his flashy clothes and jewellery, Bappi Lahiri is no flash in
the pan musician.
Draw no parallels, Bappi da is simply Bappi da. What's more, he's a
man who's huge, not only in size but also in stature. In town recently
to perform at Lucknow Mahotsava, LT caught up with the Indian music
industry's original style bhai.
I am very selective about composing for films these days. With over
440 films in 32 years to my credit, I think it's time to be choosy
about what I lend my name to. Sometimes I don't do a single film in a
year, but on the flip side, I also hold the Guniess record for doing
37 films in a single year. It depends on what inspires me about the
film and once convinced it surely gets the Bappi Lahiri touch, says
the flashy composer.
With Taxi No 9211 striking the right notes with the people, and a
string of similar successes following suit, Bappi Lahiri is definitely
experiencing a second coming. Composing for Ramu's Sholay was unique
indeed. Unlike Don, the songs I composed for this film are originals,
not pepped up versions from the old movie. All films I am composing
for right now have original music truly inspired by the film's
subject. The audience will notice this in Mani Ratnam's Guru, Ravi
Chopra's Bhoothnath, Pyar Mohabbat, the new Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron etc,
he avers.
But that's not all he has up his sleeve. The projects he's
particularly looking forward to include a duet with Daler Mahendi and
composing for KC Bokadia's Govinda starrer Pyar Jhukta Nahin. Arre
it's going to be an out and out musical dhamaal! Can you imagine Daler
and me singing together? It's the first time both of us will come
together to sing and I'm really looking forward to it, he gushes.
Considering originality is such a big deal with him, what's his take
on the current music market? It's a matter of sustaining numbers, not
originality. If a song clicks with the masses and stays on for three
months, it's certainly an achievement for its lyricist and composer.
But aaj kal yeh nahin hota hain, even today songs from the '60s, '70s
and '80s rule the roost. In my opinion the only composer and singer
capable of replicating the excellence of golden oldies today is AR
Rahman - he is a class apart, he muses.
Goad him about the TV talent hunt show he's on and how there's news of
rigged results and favouritism playing a role while picking winners on
such shows, and he is quick to take offence. No! No! that's rubbish,
Sanchita won on merit not because she is a Bengali! As far as the
skirmishes on the show go, it's Abhijeet and Alka battling it out, not
me.
We'll take your word for it Bappi Da.
