[arr] Re: Remembering Dil Se.......

2005-09-21 Thread karishma_saali
hi ajit,

i could not agree wit u more.
i still do listen to my dilse cd, in fact just heard it yday on the
way to work, and yes it is simply brilliant, and timeless.

a lot of songs created by the present or past MDs are usually based
on one particular time, or era, following one typical trend and is
very very predictable. it is sad enuff that songs nowdays hv
predictable lyrics, but music too no not differ.

most of the albums by ARR are no doubt timeless and evergreen, no
matter when or whr u listen to it, u would just drown into the
soulful feelings, and dilse stands top in the timeless category. I'd
also include thiruda thiruda and rangeela (tho released 10 yrs back,
u could still dance with rangeela re and sway along wit tanha tanha),
and thats just to name a few. If it impossible to pick a few and list
them here, cos as we know it, they all r at the top bracket.

dilse re by ARR is the best, and no one else would hv done justice,
and i wouldnt mind hv ARR sing for ae ajnabi too but udit is great as
well! its the lyrics and the music of the songs that hv already
brought the feel to the song, the singer brought the humanly 'dard'
feeling into the song.

the movie too by genuis mani ratnam was a truly great effort to
create a timeless love story, and its funny that not many ppl liked
the movie after they saw it, maybe its the sad ending, but it feels
more real than anything. no nakras, no cliche, he wanted his love and
he wanted to stop the human bomb from creating chaos, and he did it,
my fav too, shah rukh khan!!

[arr] Re: Shankar ropes in A R Rahman for Sivaji

2005-09-14 Thread karishma_saali
well im from malaysia and im no foreigner to the tamil cinema,
believe me... plus i listen to ARR's songs from both hindi and tamil
and i love them all undividedly, even my family members get puzzled
from my interest, and ive learnt a great deal of tamil language from
all the movies i watch. but then again yr rite about the songs being
done wit rajini's image, which doesnt really appeal to me, cos his
movies r all sort of similar stuff

--- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, "Anand Bharathan" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
wrote:
> welcome to the group. ARR-Rajni combo is something which every
tamil speaking person simply lap up and if you don't speak tamil it
may not really appeal to you in the first listen because the music is
made keeping in view Rajni's image more than anything. But that is
where our boss comes out top, satisfy Rajni fans and also give great
music. Rajni is a kind of hero who is popular among all classes of
people in Tamil Nadu and you can't expect him to emote like Kamal or
any other great actor so the music has to fit his image. Here ARR
comes tops. So listen to Muthu, Baba and Padayappa again with Rajni's
image in mind and you will start liking it. My personal favourites
are Muthu's into song and all songs of Padayappa, especially Oho
kicku yerudhe. Man, amazing dancing by Rajni and KSR and amazing
lyrics. rminds of tap dance numbers from Hollywood movies.

2005-09-14 Thread karishma_saali
hi guys and gals out there, ive a new member of the group and as i've
been going thru the postings about ARR composing for rajini are chart
toppers, muthu, padayappa and baba... as ive heard them all in
malaysia, it really reminded me of the ARRs worst songs poll... not
sounding mean or anything, but i feel that rajini and ARR dont make a
good combo by default, and thus the songs turn out the way they r. As
ive read in one of ARR's interview, Muthu songs we created in a rush
and they r just average, hummable yes but not very memorable. As for
padayappa only the classical piece minsara kanna is catchy the rest
just ok, and Baba, one track inspired from punjabi music, and the
rest nothing of the ARR style. Therefore i wouldnt be eargerly
waiting for this new ARR-rajini combo.

All said, compared to these movies, i'd rather listen to songs from
Sangamam and and Indira, with the classical yet contemporary pieces
being so mindblowing!!
