But then in the previous scene she seems to suggest to her mother that the wedding needs to go ahead by acknowledging the fact that it will be in the best interest of her ppl and that it's worth the 'sacrifice'. 3) Khwaja mere Khwaja is a song based entirely (or at least 90%) on the Sufi singers (focussing many a times on their faces). It is a spiritual song where towards the end, the sufi singers get into a (spiritual) trans and are joined in the same by Akbar. Interestingly, the sufi singers consisted of at least 3 pairs of twins! Is that part of the culture or was it just part of Gowarikar's creativity? It was an emotional journey, this song, especially the end. 4)Mann mohana: another spiritual song pictured mainly on Ash. It again comes in two parts and is not a 5min chunk. When Akbar is defending his move after marrying Jodha to his ministers in the courtyard, this chant is heard and he is mesmerized immediately. He loses himself to the chant and unknowingly walks towards the source of the chant mesmerized by it, forgetting that he was in the middle of addressing his court. this scene goes hand in hand with the scene at the end of the sufi song, giving us Akbar's spiritual dimension. 5) Jasn-e-bahaara : came in parts. It wasn't a 5 min chunk. It was split (in RangDeB style) but nevertheless so very apt. showing how the relationship between jodha and akbar grows (just like in the promos). Loved it!This is my fav tune in the sound track and still is after watching the picturisation. 6)Azeem o shan- it was very grand. Looks like a lot of effort went into the song. Again, this song comes with some dialogues. 7) in lam ho ke damon: this song came after my fav scene in the movie. The bit where Jodha writes Akabar's full name as part of her first calligraphy lesson and asks Akbar to read it. His reply to her and her reaction (in a split second )- a mixture of disappointment and deep affection) to his confession. Superb! This is followed by a scene where they both confess their feelings to each other and breaks into In lam ho ke damon. Another very emotional and beautiful song portraying the feelings between the emperor and his empress. Just lovely. My second pick of the album! 8) lot has been a written already abt the kitchen scene so I won't dwell into it- but again one of my fav scenes in the movie. if i remember well, i think it ended with a jashn -e-bahaara bgm. 9) the sword fight between jodha and akbar had quite a nice bgm (minus the sword clashing sounds) 10) to be honest, I am going to watch it again .this time try and focus on the bgms in the movie. I hope at least this time, the movie won't distract me from trying to engross in the music! ;) There were so many great scenes in the movie. Another example is the one before the interval with Akbar confronting Jodha and asking her to leave but I won't get into them as this is not a review. Just my personal opinion of the movie and i felt i needed to share it with you guys. All in all, it's a LOVELY movie with some really great performances from the lead artists and the supporting cast.I never liked Hrithik's emotional scenes in any of his previous movies.

I am just concerned about the amount of marketing that's gone into the movie so far. In this day and age, how you sell your film before its release is a vital part of film making. I remember , when Yuva released the critics slashed it and Maniratnam called for a press conference within 1 week of its release but it was too late. Om Shanti Om partly owes its success to all the sales pitching that went in before the release of the movie ( 31 stars song, SRK six pack etc). I was thinking how these are nothing compared to the JA sets that I've seen recently in the posters. They look absolutely stunning with so much detail as well. I am sure a lot of effort went into it. It's sometimes good to talk about things that you are proud of, in your own production. It raises a curiosity factor in those who are in two minds about whether or not they want to go watch JA. Those who are sitting on the fence right now and will wait to see what the critics say and then go watch it depending on the reviews. Believe it or not, there are a lot of people who actually do this and this is why these so called critics/reviews are so important. For example, every article I've read abt JA in Indiafm doesn't have a stroke of 'positiveness' in it. They refer to the film being big and all but nothing encouraging. I won't be surprised if the movie is thrashed when it releases. I remember reading the Swades review on Indiafm and thinking, how unbelievably one-dimensional the reviewer was. Maybe there is a lot more than there is to see when it comes to keeping reviewers 'happy'. Anyway, all I was trying to say was that Ashutosh probably needs to invest some time and money in selling his film. No doubt, he's one of the best directors in India but in this day and age marketing one's film prior to its release is just as important as making the movie. I am hoping things will pick up nearer to the release. All the best to the JA team. I am going to love it- i know that for a fact. Irrespective of what the critics (ie samples of human taste in movies) say but I would love to see the movie succeeding at the BO as well. P.S: i love it how tuteja's post in naachgaana only got 4 comments! We should pat ourselves on the back for not getting into any arguments on his review. That's probably what he was looking for. As far as we are concerned , rahman's work speaks for itself.

I agree Gomzy, that there was a lot of innocence in the tracks but they were fairly simple compositions. Little or no layers to the music and I don't want to take anything away from SEL for that because that was probably what Aamir asked them for - simple innocent music. I think the simplicity of the tunes and the storyline along with the lyrics apealed to ppl's emotions. In contrast to Rahman's music where the music does 90% of the soul stirring (it certainly does for me at least). If SEL used the same tunes in a different movie with a different story line etc, I don't think it would have made an impact. I don't want to make this a bash-Taare-Zameen-Par thread cos it's not a bad soundtrack at all but I was only trying to give my personal opinion on the difference between Rahman's music and everyone else's. The music talks for itself. Sirish- I have tried every outlet here. From the big ones [HMV, Virgin megastores] to the high street shops in the desi areas and none of them have it. I am not someone for piracy but this track is a masterpiece and it's a shame it didn't come out with the original Guru Soundtrack. I have the 2-disc GURU DVD so I was able to rip it off the DVD but couldn't get rid of the fire crackling bits and voices which kind of ruins the beauty of this superior track. It's really annoying that the full song is not available outside India. Can someone post a description of the whole song please for those of us who are unable to buy the CD. it's really annoying. I loved it in the movie but doesn't look like I'd get my hands on a CD in the near future.

What genre would you guys classify this one in? Finding it tricky...He is enjoying the arabic touch in his songs lately. Mayya Mayya (in Guru) was superb. I paricularly like the bit from 0.47 to about 1.00 minute - this keeps coming up throughout the song (eg 3.16 to 3.24min - my fav bit of the song!).Really like it. Sounds a bit familiar too- has rahman used it elsewhere (a bgm or something)?

Jut got the CD- I must admit that after a very long time, I've enjoyed a complete album of the genious. I like something and more often everything in ALL the songs in the album. It's a fantastic piece. I know this is fairly early but could someone tell me what each of the songs mean? even translation of the first few lines for each of the songs would be much appreciated. Have fun listening to the songs guys!
