to
the already sky high budget of Blue
  *
Madonna didn't respond because she was going through a bitter
divorce,
Rihanna asked for a sum that was not affordable, so finally it is Kylie
Minogue who'll be making history as the first international A-list pop
star
to lend her voice for a mainstream Bollywood music director.

According to sources, the Australia-born crooner who has sold more
than 60
million records, has agreed to sing for AR Rahman. Kylie will be
coming to
India by January 2009 with her entourage to record the song with
Rahman. She
has reportedly charged the producers of the film about Rs five crore
as her
  fees ($1 million).

The song will be recorded for the film Blue, which has Akshay
Kumar,
Sanjay Dutt and Lara Dutta. The producers also want Kylie to make
a music
video of the song. In all probability, the song might be shot in
Hollywood,
  says the source.

The total cost of hosting the star in Mumbai and recording the song
and
music video could well cost the producers an extra Rs five crore. The
company negotiating with Kylie confirmed that they are very close to
inking
  the deal.

We are negotiating with an international artist. Within two to three
weeks, we'll make a formal announcement, said Rajnigandha
Shekhawat of Nine
Winds, which is handling the film's communications. Sources also
revealed
that there were a fresh round of negotiations last week. The singer,
sources
say, is not afraid of visiting Mumbai though she is well aware of the
recent
  terrorist attack.

The production cost of Blue is already hovering around Rs 130 crore
-
without the expense they are incurring for Kylie's song. With the last
leg
of shooting left, at Rs 140 crore-odd, Blue might race past
Rajnikanth's
Endhiran to become the costliest film to be produced in India.

Just to suggest some of the other interesting A.R

Some of the other movies which AR's re-recording had
 rocked were:

 1)Rhythm,
2)Minsara Kanavu/ Sapnay - The theme was so enjoyable,
 3)Uyire,
 4)Tehzeeb,
 5)Kadhalar Dhinam and Kadhal desam,
 6)Mudhalvan/Nayak
 7)Sangamam

With this I think it will be complete as all the other
older movies were not done on 5.1.

I have ripped BGMs for quite a few albums so far,
  Alhamdulillah. But
I was not expecting this from Jeans. There are not
  a lot of pieces,
it's not done in sync sound, he has actually used
  some of the song
tunes as BGM, and still the BGMs are just awesome.
  It is the first
time I cried, while ripping a BGM. The Infants BGM
  and the Fake BGM
made me cry. Overall, Jeans BGM turned out to be
  quite refreshing.
One of the BGMs sounds like Desh Ki Mitti from Bose,
  just the
beginning part, for a few seconds. There is also
  the song sung by
  Sonu Nigam(sorry, I have Jeans in Hindi)...Zindagi
  Mujhe Tu, not
featured in tapes or CDs probably because it's
  short.

[arr] Re: Do you think that YSR has come a very close 2nd to ARR??

2006-01-09 Thread rahmanforme
Hello folks,

I partially agree with Anujit. YSR is growing very well and at an
amazing speed. His compositions are stunningly different, however,
some of them are inspired from some international numbers. I heard
the music of one of the tracks in Pudhapetti in a Citibank ad that
comes when u listen to songs on Raaga.com. And I heard this ad
couple of months ago (before Pudhapetti audio was released), which
means, its inspired, if not a complete copy. Nevetheless, I love
many of YSR's songs, esp. I love Arindham Ariyamulam, this album
is one of my all time favourites apart from many of ARR's albums
(difficult to list them down :-) ) and Minnale. Even I do not
understand Tamil, since I am from Andhra Pradesh. But Rahman's music
made me foray into tamil music and I found that many others,
directly or indirectly inspired Rahman, are coming up with better
tunes day by day. I used to rate Harris as the next big thing in
Indian music after (and only after) ARR when I heard Minnale, but
YSR is growing much better than Harris.

I think bollywood directors should start utilizing these growing
tamil talent, thus reducing the load on ARR. They are definitely not
a replacement for ARR, but since there is only one good composer
in bollywood, all the good film-makers are coming to him only, so
atleast composers like YSR Harris, (who are 100 times better than
Himesh Reshmaiyya or Anu Mallik, I am saying YSR is 100 times better
than Anu Mallik, now think can I even compare anyone with our boss?)
can be utilised by them. Especially, I dont like Rahman to work for
directors like Ahmed Khan (Lakeer - The Forbidden Lines). Such
people, being ARR's fans like us, might be requesting our boss so
much that he accepts their offers (u can see his humbleness and
generosity here). These directors can go down to south, since even
Harris' and YSR's music is beyond being regional (remember that
RHTDM is musically a big hit, though the movie bombed).

But till today, except, Ilayaraja MM Kreem (his hindi music is
just uncomparable with his telugu music, listen to Sur Jism and
then listen to his telugu funny songs, though he did made some
good telugu numbers too), ARR is the only successful South Indian MD
making it big in bollywood.

I wish YSR to grow more, but also to be more original, so that he
can help our-kind-of music get more popular in the days to come
than the typical Jhalak Dhiklaja ones.

I will wait for ur comments and thoughts.

Cheers,
Srinath.

 Hi all Rahmaniacs,
i have come again and getting your responses for my earlier
doubt..i
have come up with something again..
Well i have just listened to Pudhupettai of YSR recently, i am
not a
Tamilian neither i understand this language but due to ARR i found
Tamil songs to be quite good and most of the times better than the
hindi songs..no hard feelings plz.. because i also belong to the
north
but do not look at this regional divide...like ARR who has
actually
 removed all these barriers..
Not diverting from my topic i also have taken interest in
listening to
other composers music like Harris and YSR...though Harris is good
i
find YSR is better...listening to some of his albums like Kadhal
Kondein,7g,Arindhum,Kanda Naal Mudhal and now Pudhupettai...well
with
this score i really feel that YSR has evolved as a composer and
like
ARR he has started to understand the subject of the film much
better...
maybe due to the rapport with the director Selvaraghavan..this
film is
about chennai underworld and i was quite amazed with the musical
score
since all the songs give a kind of a dark feel which is very much
apt
to the subject..like ARR(who did it for Bose) again he has also
collaborated with a Bangkok orchestra in this film which shows YSR
is
also not afraid to experiment and wants to go international as
well...
Plz do not discriminate me as a YSR fan..believe me i am an ardent
ARR
fan from the core of my heart and will always remain that way...
i hv just put forward some facts which might make us think that
ARR
has got some quality rivalry from YSR which is definitely healthy
and
more so as YSR is also favourite of ARR...
What do you guys feel? Will YSR be the next ARR of India if he
also
takes up Hindi projects?Just put forward your thoughts on this
 subject..
Between: RDB will be a huge chartbuster and a superhit movie...
 Take care,
 Regards,
 anujit

[arr] Taal Rangeela inspired from Vangelis' compositions

2006-01-08 Thread rahmanforme
Hello Everyone!

I recently read in one of the sites that Taal Rangeela movies have
music inspired from the famous hollywood composer Vangelis'
compositions. I am not sure if this is true, but I verified in couple
of sites and looks like true. I am trying to verify this, but wanted
to know if someone in the group has already came to know about this
and did some research. If yes, please share it with th group.

Please visit the below sites for more information:

http://www.ecranlarge.com/dossier-109.php
(Check the section - Musique réutilisée)

http://imdb.com/name/nm0006331/

I strongly believe that even if this is true, it might be a
coincidence. Please post your comments.

Cheers,
Srinath.
