On Jan 11, 'Guru' had a worldwide release in Hindi as well as Tamil. In
Mumbai alone, it raked in 4.5 crores in the first week of release. About
15 shows were being shown in the Mumbai multiplexes but the crowds
continued to surge.



In the first week, the Hindi and Tamil versions made a cool 16 crores on
national level.

This is a record in Indian film history. At the end of the 2nd week,
only the Hindi version made 22 crores. Including Tamil would make it 29
crores.

In England and UK, the film is doing great business. No other Indian
film has received such a rousing response like this film by Mani Ratnam.
In both these place, 'Guru' made 10 crores in 10 days. It is expected to
do continued business. No other Indian film has done so well with an
opening collection outside India.



After 'Guru,' Vijay's 'Pokkiri' and Ajith's 'Azhwar' are next in line of
successful films!
