Re: [arr] 'Sakkarakatti' runs a sweet 50

2008-11-14 Thread V S Rawat
I am curious about how they are calculating 50 days and jubilees nowadays?

I mean, a few days ago, a film was releasing only in a single theater in
a city in four shows a days, so it was easy to count days.

Nowadays, it is unusually released in more than one theater having 4
shows a day, and multiplexes show even more shows, 6 or more a day on
their various screen.

A recent film (probably fashion) got released in 4 multiplexes showing a
total of 24 shows in a day, plus in 2 cinema halls showing 4 shows a
days. That would mean 32 shows a day, that is equivalent to 8 days
equivalent if we count older 4 shows per day method.

Now, with 8 days per day, it would give 56 days equivalent of screenings
in a week that means any film running this way would complete 50 days in
the first week itself, by older standards.

How do they calculate it nowadays when various cities are screening in
different counts of theaters and multiplexes? In bombay, if a movie is
released in enough number of theatres, it might be completing 200 shows
(50 days equivalent) in a single day.

2008]

*Sakkarakatti Gallery

Director Kala Prabhu and actor Shanthanu's maiden venture 'Sakkarakatti' has
gone ahead to complete a successful 50-day run across theatres.

The movie produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu and directed by his son Kala Prabhu
had musical score by A R Rahman. Catchy numbers Taxi Taxi, Chinamma was the
craze among the youngsters. The music itself gave it a grand opening and
pulled the crowds to the theatres.

Though the movie received average reviews from the mass and the media,
Sakkarakatti has now gone ahead to run 50-days. The good news is that the
daddy Thanu has roped in his son Kalaprabhu to do another movie for his
Kalaipuli International.

Kalaprabhu has completed the story and screenplay and search is on for the
star cast.
